I travel a lot and sometimes its nice not to change lens specially like in HK its windy and always drizzling changing lens is hard. Had that experience mastered with my A77 change lenses few times and end up having a lot or particles on the sensor :-(
Now I have two bodies ep3 with pl25 and nex7 with 1855. I ask my kid to carry one and I carry one hehe still light compare to my A77 + grip with 1680, 1116 and 50f1.4
But for now be skipping xe-1 for now due to 2013 I will have a lot of expenses due to buying a flat.

Sony Nex 35mm f1.8 is a very good lens in terms of built and IQ. But still nowhere near the Fuji 35mm in terms of IQ and sharpness.
Fuji 35mm is an exceptional lens and can be used like Leica summilux- wide opened at f1.4 and still yield the sharpest image with great bokeh.
Sony 35mm f1.8 is a very good add-on to the limited Nex lenses (without using adapters of course), and with the price, it is a very good lens considering that it is around 2-3 times cheaper than the Sony CZ24mm. Built quality is good with virtually silent auto focus. Fuji 35mm is not as quiet when focusing.

Yes, I am comparing to the Summilux ASPH. This Fuji 35mm f1.4 is far better than pre-asph summilux in terms of sharpness, even when shoot wide open.

Haha... Just joking. Friend wanted his Nex7 back so I am back with my X-E1. Kind of missing the IQ of the Fuji 35mm f1.4 and the sharpness of X-E1 that don't see on Nex 7.
Using my M9P lately as main gear, until the new replacement sensor arrives at Leica service centre.

just got my xf18-55 from Harvey Norman @Raffles City for $942. was also able to redeem $20 voucher by using Mastercard, so in effect paying only $922 for the lens.
Superb price. This is probably the stable price for this zoom lens since the initial launch price of $1099.
Must say this is well worth the price at $942, for a solid built lens with super sharp focus. Especially the completely silent AF focus and super fast AF.

yup, really a good deal for now. but as usual it will drop further for sure in a couple of months. but for me i have waited long enough.
the initial quote from Harvey Norman was $1099, but the salesperson finally agreed to drop it down to $942. i didn't need to buy anything else at that price. am sure everyone should be able to buy it at $942, maybe even lower if they have better bargaining skills?

Lenses don't drop in price as much as the body, especially good quality ones. Camera body drop faster in price since there are newer version with better sensors taking over, but lenses are generally useable for the newer bodies and thus will not drop as much.
For e.g, the 35mm f1.4 and 18 f2 has not change much since launch date of the X-Pro1. I think the 18-55mm zoom lens should be steady around this price given the quality, sharpness and OIS. $942 is a good price. Even if you bargain further, I think the most it can go is still more than $900.

to me it is, as all my cam gear have boxes.
of course not all have the same preference, which is perfectly fine too.
