It won't fit, the metal hood has an inner diameter large enough to fit only 52mm filters.

Aim your Cir-PL to your LCD monitor, turn the filter and you will see your monitor going black. It works.

Yup. Just tried the adaptor it dosent work. Looks like got to buy an additional protecter liao. HD or ZETA better? Been using pro1d for other lenses thinking of trying out another type.

Havent yet try the cir-pl on monitor yet, maybe later tonight. I usually try on a piece of glass check to see own reflection. Just wondering if it has something to do with the dynamic range settings. Still a noob on dynamic range.....lolx

I don't use UV filters on my X-Pro1 (don't see a need for one as I always have the metal hood attached to my XF lenses). The hood provides enough protection.

For Cir-PL I always stick with B+W KSM filters.

To bros who r new to xp1.. Just found out the evf and lcd screen brightness level can be adjusted independently. I have the xp1 for few already and normally I use ovf and lcd to frame the shots.. But today was using macro mode and found the evf kind of dark until I toggle with the settings.

How ?

the LCD display settings, when you view it through the LCD you adjust the brightness of the rear LCD. If you view it through the EVF you adjust the EVF.

Thanks will try it.

Bought a xpro 1 and 35mm over the weekend. Noticed that the AF is rather slow and loud compared to my D700 on a 50mm which is buttery smooth.
Firmware is updated to the lasted 2.01 for both body and lens. I have not taken any seroius shoot yet. Still learning the functions. But I am bit worried about the sound coming out from the focusing.

can't compare DSLR with the XPro1. If you want silent focus try the XF 18-55 zoom, its LM motor is similar to Nikon AF-S.

noticed the slow AF as well. Tried the OMD for a couple of mins at the recent SITEX and it seemed to have set the benchmark for mirroless AF--although still nowhere near a DSLR. I think this might be a issue if trying to take snap shots of moving objects. Still keeping my DSLR in case i need that fast AF.

But i still think this is a software issue(less the lens motor) and i'm pretty certain that FUJI will work hard at improving the AF system. Just hope the new 23F1.2R will sport a faster motor.

The slow AF is well documented which I expected it but not the loud focusing noise.

cant comment on that. my sony 50mm is darn bloody noisy as well according to others so i guess i'm pretty accustomed to noisy lenses

XPRO1 and DSLR are different type of systems. Those who get used to DSLR will find that XPRO1 AF is slower. But once you get used to the XPRO AF speed, that should not be an issue for you anymore. :)
Starting I felt the same with you too, but when use for a period of time, I began to love XPRO1 more. The image quality and colours are SUPERB!

Tried the OMD aka 'AF speed demon' at sitex too..
One word to describe it "Crap"...
AF so fast that you don't even know what you're shooting/framing...

Like ahpan said, do not compare the XPRO1 with a DSLR because they are simply two different systems. There will be times and situations where a DSLR is the best choice, and other times where the XPRO1 is preferred. I own both systems and choose my gear according to my needs.

By the way, every camera system have their strengths and limitations. Most people know what a DSLR system can offer. It is not necessary to benchmark all other systems to what the DSLR can do. If you must have everything perform the same as DSLR, then why bother to try other systems? Might as well just stay with the DSLR!

I shoot DSLRs (Nikon D3s and D700 with a collection of prime and zoom lenses). I also shoot XPRO1 with the 3 primes (18, 35, 60). I still shoot film (Zeiss Ikon ZI, Hasselblad medium format film, and the very special Hasselblad XPAN panaromic film camera).

The joy of photography is to be able to try out different systems, experiment, explore, be creative, yet work within the strengths and limitations of each camera system.

Enjoy the journey and share knowledge and experience with others.

Nowadays, when I don't want to carry the heavy DSLR system for travelling, I bring along 2 XPR01 bodies each mounted with a different lens so as to be able to capture moments as they happen. And I don't have issues with the AF because I work within the limitations of the system.

Cheers.

wanna ask the old birds here on how to effectively utilise the xpro1. wat type of photography is most effective with the xpro1? How do you guys maximise the strengths of the Xpro1(imo, the excellent IQ,ISO and most importantly the OVF)?

BTW, how does the dotted-focus rectangle work? I also notice a rectangle on the bottom left of the OVF, wat does it do? Thanks in advance

xp1 good for: everything except fast moving objs like sports, birds, fish (i've tried all)
Shutter lag, weird focus scale, no scale distance on lens is annoying for street shooters.

Dotted focus rectangle = focus point at min focus distance
Normal focus rectangle = focus point at infinity focus distance
Both give u an idea of where to actually focus on, depending on your subject's distance from u. Use EVF if you need pin-point focus accuracy, the OVF is more of a guesstimate.

Rectangle at bottom left => histogram. IIANM you need to turn on "show histogram" and turn off "power saving mode" to actually get the histogram - again, not well documented by fuji.

I've to switch to OVF often when background is very bright as the subjects become very dark in EVF. Am I alone?

same here, had to rely on ovf during my last holiday. evf and lcd just couldn't cut it in very bright scenes. for me the ovf is really indispensable.

I am wondering if the xe 1 and all other evf camera faces the same problem. Would be a big handicap without the ovf
