The cases are coming out one by one, guess in a few weeks the Gariz should be available for sales. It's on their blog already.

Guys just a quick check... I played with a x-pro1 last weekend at CP. overall good experience except that I notice the camera tends to rattle a little during AF. Sounds and feels like those older Nikon bodies with in-body AF motor. On the x-pro1 it feels as if something is being engaged in the camera body to push the lens group to its focus point. I own a bunch of Canon L glass and I never encounter such behavior before thus I don't want to set the wrong expectation on this lovely camera body.

Is this a norm or the demo unit has been through too much abuse? By the way all the x-mount lenses are they USM/ AF-S equivalent e.g very silent in AF? AF is certainly not fast but acceptable.

I think you are referring to the chattering of the aperture blades. Just update Te firmware and it'll disappear. Well mostly disappear

No definitely not the lens chatter... I mean the camera rattles/ vibrates a little when it starts to AF. The lens chatter issue is definitely on the demo unit... Can hear it clearly in the shop.

It is the lens. The vibration is from the aperture blades trying to adjust itself, and it is fixed with the firmware update.

Whr u buy from?

Just to share my personal view:-

I love my XP1 (with 35mm lens). I "upgraded" from X100.

Before that I used Nikon DSLR. From D40, D90 to D7000.

When I started taking photo, i always thought that the better the camera the better photos you will take. How far it was from the truth...

I bought the D90 1st, i really liked it, but thinking that it as it was my 1st camera, when D7000 came out, it must be better, since it has better specs.

So I sold off D90 & bought D7000, but nope, it didn't help in any way.

Eventually I sold it off, and go back to elementary by using D40, still it didn't help much...

Thinking that it must be the smaller sensor's fault, so I wanted to venture into full frame.

I wanted to buy D800 and nearly wanted to try RF Leica M9.

Both have many people raving about it. The former is super high tech, the latter is legendary.

I was still looking everywhere and read many forum to seek the holy grail...

It was when I think to myself, I wasn't a Pro photograher in the 1st place, why should I be bothered with such functions that only Pro are concerned of.

When I was using DSLR, it was heavy, my back/neck ached, I felt like an idiot taking a big camera around, and it attracted attention. Not from the girls, but the staffs in the department stores. I was stopped too many times, and that took my enjoyment away.

If you liked street photography, don't bother. People will start noticing it, so taking picture candidly is quite difficult.

While I was in the midst of the confusion and noisy chatter...

Something different caught my attention.

(And it also helps that D800 took ages to come to shore).

The Fuji X100.

The 1st 2 weeks was feeling regretful. Being pampered with zoom lens before, I became lazy with the zooming capability.

Using prime lens needed some used to.

And all the photos I took were tiny or not framed correctly.

Zoom lens may have killed my foundation of photography.

But strangely, it was the camera of my choice to bring it out everywhere with me.

My black DSLR was at home turning into a white elephant...

As the primarily camera I bring out, I was "forced" to use the prime lens and learn to "take better" photos, by learning one of the basic needs of photography:-

COMPOSITION.

Suddenly, pictures that I am taking started to looked. Well, better...

Not Pro photographer quality. But something I really liked.

Except, when XP1 came out, I know that is the ultimate camera for me.

I said FOR ME... Everyone has their own preference and ideal camera, that is why we have Canon, Nikon, Leica, Sony, Pentax, Olympus...

As though Brands are not enough, we have PnS, 3/4 mirrorless, RF, Full sensor, Medium format etc.... Blah blah blah....

Whew! With that and many advertisments and more forum debates, beginners like me are caught in the Ocean of "confusion, confusion, confusion ......".

STOP!

1st let us admit, we are not professional photographers.

If we are, we will know what we want and those technical terms and high tech function will make sense to you. (Some may not even bothered with too much high tech).

Don't get caught in it.

2nd know what sort of photograph suits you...

What do you need, what don't you need?

I know I want a camera I can bring out everywhere without slowing me down.

I am more interested in taking protrait and need a camera for that purpose.

I want a camera good enough for some cropping, just in case the composition is not that good enough.

Nice colour tone for protraits.

Fuji X Pro 1 fits in VERY NICELY.

----------------------------------------------------

Sure, some complain about the slow, hit and miss AF. Purple fringing on some lens, not sharp enough, Gripe about this and that...

But I feel that we should not have this thing bother us. Instead we should focus on how to accustom to the camera, rather than wanting the camera to accustom to us.

Eventually, with our skill improved, the rest of the "high tech" "Chim" "Confusing" information will start to make sense.

Until then it may not even bother us at all.

Don't let other people's gripe or comments bother you.

Don't be "embarrassed" if other "Pro" talked about something you don't understand and feel "lousy" or "if I don't know that, so I am not going to take good photos"

Ever notice that every camera has it Pros & Cons? What does it tell us?

Is there such thing as the perfect camera?

Is there someone (critics) who must pin point some issue, just to make them "an expert", even though those disadvantages may not be that important,

maybe if we think hard enough to work around it, it will turn out fine?

----------------------------------------------------------

ANYWAYS I LOVE MY XP1. I am going to dress him up and it's going to stay with me for a very long long time...

Go and find your true love and spend time to nuture the relation between the 2 of you and let the partnership flourish.

For me, I am going to spend time with my camera and 2 sons now...

Hey, anyone notice that suddenly alot of X100 user letting go of their gear?
Issue with the camera or like me upgrade to XP1?
