Actually a matter of fact, diarrhea will not cause blood pressure to be too low. But i do agree with you, it was not stated why she had low blood pressure. So i guess we can't assume. :)

1) Second woman dies: Madam Norani Kassim

2) Victims ate seafood items, contaminated by Vibrio parahaemolyticus bacteria, a common cause of food poisoning associated with consumption of raw or partially cooked seafood.

3) TOLD that a second person had died from eating what seemed to be tainted Indian rojak from his stall, Mr Sheik Allaudin Mohideen, 70, could only utter: 'I don't know what to say.'

Something bad has happened. Hope all stalls will be more cautious now.

Hope that uncle at West coast stops keeping his cockles thawed outside for so long.

Nobody wanted this to happen to those who passed away and those who are still sick. I have only one thing to tell all the food stall/hotel staffs here: Put yourself into the shoes of those who come to your place to eat, and prepare and keep the food in such good condition as you want it to be for yourself. Think of others also and not only of yourself and money only. Money will come and go anytime, but once life is gone, it will never come back.

We cannot judge the situation of any grounds, bcos the deaths may or may not be directly caused by the food poisoning itself.

LET US PRAY FOR THE SOULS OF THOSE WHO PASSED AWAY, AND PRAY THAT OTHERS WHO ARE SICK WILL GET WELL SOON.

I think the authorities should really consider not having food stalls and market under one roof.

i feel that NEA should also look into design of toilets in coffee shops, every often we see food stalls located just next to entrance of the toilets, when wind blows... we smell something "special"

The governement in its zeal to be nos 1 in cleaniness has caused our stomach to be come weak. now we are helpless even to fight the small of the bad bacteria. Go to the another countries like india, indonesia and pakistan which are not so clean as singapore ... people do not dropping like flies from eating food not cook in 100% clean conditioning.

In the 1970's, 1980's, we had street side food stalls. The stalls all operated in the street. They cooked there, people ate and didn't fall sick at all. Infact, the food prepared tasted better than what we eat today.

Man created his own illness.

I'm confused with the method of stall grading. A, B and C.

If a stall is graded as C, does it means that it is unhygienic? So it will be unwise for a person to consume at this stall? Consume at your own risk?

Won't it be better for NEA to ban the stall completely instead of giving it a grade C and passing the risk to the person who patron the stall?

I think it will be better to have a system of 'Pass' or 'Fail'. Pass means that the stall can continue to operate. Fail means the stall is ban from operating.

You're confused.

A, B, and C are all pass grades.
When a stall fails the test, it'll be suspended from operation; they can't sell.

after this incident, may be upgrade to failing "C"?:think:

Really hard to say. I've noticed that hawkers with usually wet floors and dealing with frying are 'B' or 'C' grades. Read the newspapers about someone suggesting only "A" to be allowed. That's really tough, clean and dry floors. We might end up eating Pau and Youtiao in the end. Perhaps a mandatory areas to separate cooked from raw food, and plastic gloves to be worn while cooking would be the best the authorities can do.

There's also a case of mass food poisoning in my school once that was not reported. Also around 100+ people affected, MOH or MOE (env, not edu) got called in, investigated, but not reported in the news.

Thoink only D is considered fail liao, or even if not fail, not many people will trust.

One more person passed away. May peace be with her and her family.

NEA found damned jia lat hygine conditions. They managed to catch something like 50 rats last night, and estimate that another 100 were still running around. The news coverage showed the officers planting traps, and a super long sheet of paper with the sticky rat catching mixture running through the entire temp hawker center.

Speaking of which, actually a few of the temp hawker centers seem to be potantially 'dangerous'. Some are clean and bright, and some are ...

wah, like that still can have grade ABC stalls there ah?:angry:

Fact of the matter is that rats can be found in ANY hawker centre.

Then again, rats can be found anywhere. Even in Orchard.

I once saw a rat vs cockroach at IRAS, Novena around 9pm.
