bro, you are at a place where i have been reading about only in history books.

I always wanted to visit the Ardennes. Relive the Battle of the Bulge.

Fantastic Photos there, coupled by excellent historical research.

Hi luntut

Thanks. I love war history.
When I go in deeper in reading the more detailed history, the words "Tiger" was often mentioned and fearful by the Allies.

The Tiger's armour and firepower were feared by all its opponents.
It's create a big psychological effect on Allies tankee crews, causing "Tiger Phobia".
In some occassion, Allied tankers would evade or call off an attack rather than confront a Tiger tank.

congrats on your dream come true!:D
Nice piece of history narration:thumbsup:

Thanks Redsun.
Yes, it was a dream come true.
I remember when I was young, I use to watch war movie like
A Bridge Too Far, Battle of Britain, The Big Red One, Dirty Dozen, Battle of Bulge and etc.
In the movie Battle of Bulge, the King Tiger tank (the movie use US M48 I think) was mentioned, since then, I tell myself I would like to see the real one in the future.
The year was then 1979.

wow!! what a great story of a dream come true.

congrats on your trip and we look forward to more pictures!! ;)

Thanks for sharing! I can see that you're a WWII enthusiast too. Suddenly history comes alive with your pics and description. Excellent work!

King Tiger was an excellent example of the technological and engineering prowess of the Germans. It is the equivalent of what M1A1 Abrams is today for the USA.

Like your King Tiger pics. It's also my favourite WWII AFV! I had previously built a 1/35 Tamiya model (painted and weathered) and now sitting in my glass cabinet; I hope to be able to return to plastic modelling again one day...probably when I retire...if that ever comes 'cos gotta earn a living to feed my expensive photography hobby!

King Tiger, thanks for the post! Like what LifeInMacro said, it is history coming alive!

Thanks LifeInMacro and Canew.

Yes, I am a WWII enthusiast, I'm hoping to go to Stalingrad, Normandy beaches, Arhem Bridge in near future.
For now, I am doing my reseach and hoping to go to the famous battle site at Dien Bien Phu (Vietnam War)

I have a 1/35 scale and 1/16 scale King Tiger in my glass cabinet too.
You may see the photos of 1/16 scale here.

Won't be waiting too long.

Much much more to come. ;)

Thanks BLACK13.
Actually, since 2006, I have been doing research on the battle site.
I must admitted that it is very difficult to go there alone, since the battle site is very far from city area, there is also no train nor bus transport to the area.
Further more, the old towns and battle site are situate inside the Ardennes area.

But just my childhood dream and wish which helps to motivate my determination to solve all the logistics problems and go there.

Hi, this is really a lot of history and fact about the King Tiger. Love it. Thank you so much for sharing.:)

Nice...

Thx for sharing...:)

Very impressive.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, lastboltnut. :)
Actually there are much more facts about the King Tiger.
I will post more later.

History and passion coming alive! Nice narration you have on the tank.

Can't wait to see the battlecruisers though! Keep it comin'!

Wow! You actually visited the place! Yes, I also watched the movies you mentioned and also read many books about these great battles. Priceless experience. I remember Battle of the Bulge movie even though they did not use real Tigers. I remember the following lines from that movie:

"Its like hitting them with tennis balls!" (Telly Savalas reference to the inadequate firepower of the Shermans compared with the Tiger and/or King Tiger)

"They are willing to die for you!" (after which the German tank commanders break into song)

"Burn em! Burm em all!" (at the fuel depot)

"Make stand! Make Stand!" (Charles Bronson)

"Wait a minite! This isn't the way to Malmedy..." (Which you visited!)

Anyway, the movie was highly inaccurate as I discovered later in life. But it was a lot of fun. So yeah, I understand your joy in fulfilling this wish of visiting the place and actually seeing a real live King Tiger! Priceless.....:)

Wow Zplus, Bingo man. You actually remember all the popular words in thw movie.
I only remember the words "NUTS" in movie and also in real life.

So yeah, I understand your joy in fulfilling this wish of visiting the place and actually seeing a real live King Tiger! Priceless.....:)

Wow Zplus, you read my heart.
Yes, you are correct. Actually, I am very joyful to see the real thing, to feel it, to touch the real King Tiger. Something which I felt pricless for a long childhood dream come true.
