Hi Mods,

As a fairly new member of clubsnap, and eager to learn more about photography...
but instead it seems like i am learning to be "more careful with my keyboard"..

1 wrong photo...u get slammed
1 wrong word......u get thousands of arrows..

just my humble opinion...perhaps, there should be a special forum for such fellow members
who just love to argue, quarrel, etc.

called it "CS fightclub", where only certain members who are highly competitive and critical of others are invited?

So that the rest of us can be spared from such frequent fights that can occur nearly anytime...and in any posting.

Many times, i click on page1 and see comments..page 2..comments w/ some fighters commenting....page 3 - WAR

Dont worry, there are still nice and peace-loving ppl around.....

i know this problem is inevitable in most forums, but somehow...seems like it is getting worse..

There are also many nice ppl around here.. don't be worry.. juz like to go army camp, you have to learn how to react to different ppl, sometime, silence could be the best weapon.

Dont give up, there are still nice and helpful people around. :)

Just ignore all the slammings and flamewars. Like the real world, there are always some bad in it. Its a good place to meet fellow photographers and get some tips and tricks from others who have threaded a similar newbie path as yours. Oh, mods are humans too, so they can't police this forum 24x7. ;)

There are still decent chaps around here, ya just gotta know where they are. :p

Haha I kinda agree with you on this. But it usually takes 2 hands to clap.

1 wrong photo and you get slammed

Perhaps you can give some example? I've not heard of people gettting slammed for posting photos. Ok some comments are harsh... but they do have a point. Yes they could be more diplomatic, but not all fingers are the same length. :)

I wouldn't consider it slamming as they're not targetting the individual.

1 wrong word......u get thousands of arrows..

Yes this tends to be the case depending on what you say. But at the end of the day, one must take responsibility for what one says. If you are unsure, make it known. If you don't know, don't give wrong advice. Most importantly don't pose as an "expert" if you are unsure.

A "helpful suggestion" isn't helpful if its wrong. If you want to pose an idea, make it clear from the start that it is not necessarily correct if you are unsure. Most importantly, do not quote a person and tell him he is wrong when he's not - I've seen this happen too many times.

I've noticed many individuals who provide wrong info, insist they are right and insinuate that others are wrong. When they're shown up, they get defensive and act like they're being targeted and victimised. Of course such responses will draw fire.

I feel this is not so much "1 wrong word and get shot" as it is the Asian style not to embarass and highlight another's errors. Asian cultures value "face". If I'm wrong, you cannot point out... must tell me quietly. If you openly say I'm wrong, you don't give me "face". So I get angry and ask "What's your problem? I wrong cannot issit? Not happy issit?" I then proceed to "find fault" with something you do... a form of tit-for-tat to prove that "you don't think you so smart ok" point.

If you look closely, that's how a good number of flame wars start.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not condoning flaming, nor am I saying it is right. My intention is not to defend it and I agree that such "exchanges" are pointless. All I wish to do is highlight:

1) There is no smoke without a fire
2) It takes 2 hands to clap.

Again, I share you sentiments and hope that exchanges can and will remain civilised. :)

It'll be a pretty long one... :bsmilie:

Anyway, to the TS... In this world you will meet all kinds. Even at work or just about anywhere, including this forum. One thing I have learnt and am still trying to practice is to accept criticism with grace and reflect upon the critique and see if there is a valid point.

So don't worry too much about posting. ;) You can't learn without critiques... Just learn how to deal with the harsher ones. :)
