Thanks Sabina. OMD EM5 is the latest model by Olympus and the system had gone a long way in terms of lens and image quality. In good light though, the earliest Pen (EP1,EP2) and current EM5 has not much significant changes (if one don't pixel peep) as the sensor size hasn't changed with crop factor of 2x. In low light EM5 has proven to be excellent on high ISOs and on par with many DSLR performance. Including dynamic range.
For kids photography, if kids are not running it's a very good camera to use in S-AF (single AF) mode, while C-AF will still struggle a little compared to DSLR. Although I find this not so much of a concern. Certainly the quality of pictures is dependent on the lenses used as well, so far the common prime lenses like panasonic 20mm/1.7, 25mm/1.4, and olympus 45mm/1.8 are much small(er) & light(er) than dslr equivalent.
As with all camera, if you decide to go into OMD, you should try it out, as the ergonomics, handling, menu may not suit you coming from DSLR.

I switched from DSLR to mirrorless since 3 years back, no regrets and although it didn't have as much lens as today then, it certainly had grew to a good range today. Especially with the panasonic 12-35 f2.8 launched recently and 35-100f2.8 coming soon, it's really targeting the serious amatuer users, perhaps some pro as well.

You can see the lens range from wiki

This one has my vote.

Thanks again, lovely lens isn't it? :)

I hate this thread so much poison!!!!

kidding bro wonglp :-) seeing your pix encourages me to shoot more and learn more so i could also have such stellar pix :-)

as bro wonglp said EM5 is te current Olympus flagship model the good thing now with m4/3 is the lens line up is getting better with Panasonic Leica lenses and mZuikos I think it will cover most of your needs. And PEn system had mature enough that it goes head to head in most entry level and other mirrorless system and sometimes exceeded :-) EM5 pix quality plus great ISO handling and to top it up the 5-axis in body IS are among the selling point. Also like me who's using DSLR it's a treat if you can bring a smaller body that could take excellent photos :-)

Thanks bro for hating it ;) Certainly not stellar yet, I'm still learning, and I learn alot by posting and looking at many other threads on this post, including yours too. Your BJ shots are very good!

Oly should pay you for your work here. This thread must have poisoned many people along the way.

Hi Daoyin,

I do it for love of sharing with community and the opportunity to shoot at times while travel is a bonus rather than hoping to be paid someday, though wouldn't mind having new Oly gears to play with if that ever comes :) Thanks for nice comments and dropping by again.

Personally, I missed Adrewine's brilliant Olympus thread which inspired me to start mine.

It was a fine Saturday morning with lotsa people also woke up early (or probably just came from casino), decided to do a panoramic shot to capture the sunrise and the crowd to add more interest to the shot.

sorry bro, what do you mean focusing point, as in point of interest? Thanks for dropping by:)
Btw, the pic was linked wrongly, I cropped the bottom as it's not stitched well. Will change later.

i meant the focus point, eg: focus on the guy wearing white tshirt.
but i think my question is not relevant now as i just discovered you stitch using 2 shots.

Oic. My AF point is usually in middle, and half depressed and recomposed when necessary. In this case should be nearer to the railings and lamp post area, it's shot at F7.1 and the DOF is plenty enough to get everything sharp. Ya, i stitch to include the sunrise and cruise together.

Here's another stitch shot to share, 3 shots stitched.
