<wonglp> Traveling with my mirrorless pen

A very aspiring thread. Seems like there hasn't been any updates for 2 months. This thread was one of the reason that I decided to go have a go at the m4/3 system. Hope to pick up more ideas and advice.

Cheers
Aaron

Thanks for bumping up the thread ;p Do drop a note if any questions. Here's a couple in the meantime. Somewhere on the road from Hakodate to Niseko. The good thing about self drive :)

Found some time to clear some backlogs of trips from end last year including my unfinished Hokkaido trip, hope to keep the momentum going this time :)

Niseko - a great place for beginners to experts to ski due to the powdery snow, efficient lift system & covered chairlifts, night ski that's well litted, and rarely you get whiteout even on bad weathers. However we didn't do anything of the above, guess me and wife were less adventurous than most hehe. We did though drove there in search of the below...Milk Kobo, the best ice cream & cream puff we've tried, creamy rich goodness, and no I didn't take a shot of the food, it went down the tummy pretty fast!

I like #274.

It has abit of resemblance to Michael Kenna's work if it is in black and white.

Thanks for dropping by Goderic! Certainly not worthy, did the B&W here with slight top crop. Personally still prefer colored version, or perhaps I couldn't bring out the B&W tonalities ;p

On route to Otaru! Gotten a night's stay at Otaru Furukawa Hotel, saw the rave reviews on tripadvisor so decided to stay there, it was expensive though, was also our 9th anniversary, so was certainly worth it. The breakfast was memorable, the taste still lingers on after 5 months :)

Room is spacious enough (by Japanese standards of course)

One of the main attractions in Otaru had to be the Otaru canal with the row of brick warehouses that dates by to 1920s. Hotel Furugawa faces the canal and is just a short 5min walk (in summer), 10 min (winter), every step seems twice as far in winter. A sunrise is definitely a must for landscape shooter.

#281 is nice! Somehow the yellow mix with green creates a very pleasant interesting tone.

Composition: The centre leading lines are great.

Thank you :)

Otaru is famous for few tourist attractions apart from the canal. Glass museums, food (kamaei fishcake, le tao chocolates & cakes & many confectionery). In particular, the glass .

#285 Largest glass museum & musical boxes

Hard to leave here without any purchase. You can choose the musical box tunes and mix with the design you want, very flexible and they will test it for you and wrap so nicely, such is the service standards you get in Japan. EM5+Panasonic 7-14mm.

Thank you andysim65, glad it brought back nice memories for you, agree that it's such a romantic place especially Otaru even in those darn cold weather :bsmilie:

Moving on to Sapporo, final stop. Was late night when we reached, so only managed to shoot some night shots.

#293 Odori Street

Have you seen that many traffic lights in a short street like this?

Can try parking your bike outdoors for a couple of days, you probably can't find it.

This is something I can't do! Even with those attached on spikes. Every step is a hazard walking on the snow, especially the black ice. quite an experience really.
