like #8 and #10... looks like a great trip ...cya around soon...

Yup.. definitely.. ahh.. how we wish our holidays were longer huh...

Wow ... you must have really enjoyed yourself! I guess it's a well-deserved recharge before school re-opens (guess you're a teacher based on your profile) ...

A little short for a Europe trip but no choice.. got to make do w what available time I hv.. thanks..

 too good for comments. dunno what to say....

perfect. only thing is on my screen (subjectable to differences of calibration and non-calibration), the midline bottom area is a little too dark. what i would do, if i bother, is to select an eclipsical area with feathering between 150-250 pixels in photoshop over that area, and use the lighten shadow function subtlely to bring out slight definition and details (overuse can lead to noise). some more experienced people may dodge that area.

this pic #40 is still quite ok and can be really left alone.
pic 46, as below, may benefit more from it.

Thanks for ur ever so detailed advice...

Alright.. any better?? Exact same setting.. taken secs apart.. diff post processing...

#53 Outside the Department of Justice Building
I actually wanted to go in to the International Court of Justice where Singapore and Malaysia presented their arguments in support of their claims over the sovereignty of Pedra Branca and its two outcrops...but it was closed to public.. but outside this building, I saw some foreigners hanging up banners to protest against some injustice that is going on in their country. Couldn't figure out what it was about.. just saw... Free Iranians and some arabic words... Hmm.. maybe I should put up a banner.. GIVE US BACK OUR ROCK!!!! :bsmilie:

a lot better, at least to me. i like flares and the way it washes out certain structures. except that the right appears more white while the left is still yellow, thought it would be best that the yellow light on the right are preserved. but you can ignored me. i'm a little picky.

Nice series you have! You might be lucky to miss the cold and gloomy weather of a week ago. Hope that Holland has brought you good time ;)

Yeah.. I guess I was real lucky... The skies were blue and sunny on most days when I was there, despite it being the winter season.

#54 Public Urinal..
Hmm.. hesistant to post this pic as it has no aesthetic value.. but I'm pretty tickled by this public urinal outside the Department of Justice... I wonder if it'll ever work in Singapore... :bsmilie:

#55 Streets of Den Haag
It's always very quiet in the morning esp during the weekends. This was taken around 9am I think. I was almost the only one on the streets and yet, it felt really safe... kinda like in Singapore.

#56 Escher's Museum

One of my favourite things to do in Den Haag... Spent quite some time here. For those who do not know Escher, he's the guy who comes up with drawings that involve patterns and distorted perspectives... (from one angle, the stairs seem to be heading upwards but from another angle, they seem to be going downwards).

#59 Reflections
There is a studio where you can have hands-on activity with some of the ideas Escher experimented with... here's my lame interpretation of Escher's work.. Saw one guy doing it.. haha.. so I followed suit..

Couldn't find the time.. 9 days too short to do 3 places..
Another time but maybe u would hv graduated by then..

As for the weather, I was very lucky I guess.. Someone staying there said that the weather was pretty bad when before I arrived.. and just before I left, it got gloomy again..

But I'm more envious of your trips.. so many places.. looks like you all had a lot of fun..

jiven,
your photos are beautiful
very nice, clean compositions with very little clutter to distract the viewers' attention.

i have travelled a little bit in Europe and when i look at my photos, i feel like trashing them rightaway.
i remember your Nepal photos and Melbourne ones too. Irrespective of the location you travel to, your work is still fantastic, which says a lot.
Well done. I hope you travel more and shoot more and share your work with all of us. At least I can learn a thing or two... :D

Hello Jiven!

I like your photos! makes me feel like i'm back there in netherlands again. it seems you had quite abit of sunshine yourself in winter europe! :)

Very nice series. Reminiscent of my days I was there when I was working for a Dutch company. Thanks for sharing these wonderful pics.

Thanks for the compliments... very flattering.. and a little undeserving considering the many gd works in here.. and many more out there as well..
I'm seeing so many talented photographers.. esp on flickr.. some as young as 15.. Learning photography is a really humbling experience.. and a truly enjoyable one as well.
It's always gd to learn fr each other yah...
