By right, it is done that way. Microsoft only allows activation of OEM copy on 1 system. Having said that, when you upgrade certain components such as motherboard etc, it will be considered as another new system.

Nothing's too difficult to use their friendly activation hotline.

Just wondering if you have tried to ghost ur OEM copy before and with same hardware specifications will u encounter activation problems ?

Spend sometimes and pop in the Win7 64bit trial this afternoon...and boy of boy...I have to retract back my word earlier....out of the moon....my system flies....I am shock that it behaves so much different from the 32-bit variant....running on the same hardware...I can see it even surpasses WinXP in term of speed....Software installation, IE....Picasa...hanyi pinyin input, MSpaint etc are so eager.....pending my keyboard typing speed....dman it....no need to upgrade hardware....you can see instant boost of speed....I will have very interesting next few weeks to test it out with my existings softwares and games.....I am sold....if nothing much goes wrong....I will be converted :lovegrin: Don't believe my words...you have to try it out your self :thumbsup:

Just get the product key for 64bit and change the product key in the system page in the Control Panel.

You need to purchase the 64bit OS first, no installation needed.

Re-installation is required. 32bit and 64bit OS are different.

And for the key, a original key will work for both 32 bit and 64bit version. The only question is where to obtain the 64bit OS disc.

My Windows 7 comes with 2 discs, 1 for 32 bit and the other 64 bit.
My previous Vista is 32 bit so the instruction recommends installing using the 32 bit disc.
So now, do I insert the 64 bit to install all over again, but from the 32 bit Windows 7?

Yeah 64 bit Windows 7 is good!!! Better multi-tasking too. Way much stable with 32 bit. My 32 bit Windows has some graphics issues.

Running photoshop 64 bit with Windows 7 64 bit is great!!! Fast Rendering provided your graphic card is powerful also.

Hopefully Canon can come up with a 64 bit Digital Photo Professional otherwise converting the 5D Mark II RAW Photos is a pain!

You need to do a clean install as it won't upgrade from Vista 32bit to Win7 64bit.
