Established news organisations with reporters/editors with journalistic principles to follow
I don't think it is a crack down.
The bigger picture behind this, is the tussle between:
Established news organisations with reporters/editors with journalistic principles to follow
against
Social media where anyone & everyone says his opinion in a blog sometimes without solid research and also without the responsibility of representing a major newspaper
If you read carefully, you will know blogs and social media is not even covered by this ruling. I think you missed the big picture totally.
And your point is?In other words, now no does not mean future no. Up to MDA to decide.
And your point is?
Just to point out that saying that something can be done and hinting that it could be done later on actually doesn't say anything.
For example, I can jump off a building right now, and I can decide on that later on. Does it mean that I'm suicidal?
the rule of law is abridged when the government attempts to punish someone for violating a vague or poorly worded law. Ill-defined laws confer too much discretion upon government officials who are charged with the responsibility of prosecuting individuals for criminal wrongdoing.
In other words, now no does not mean future no. Up to MDA to decide.
The MDA said the new regulation did not apply to blogs, though adding: "If they take on the nature of news sites, we will take a closer look and evaluate them accordingly."
...... if they (i) report an average of at least one article per week on Singapore’s news and current affairs over a period of two months, and (ii) are visited by at least 50,000 unique IP addresses from Singapore each month over a period of two months.
does Yahoo! News Singapore count as one of these? :bsmilie:
we should have had a major overhaul in 2011

Why the Yacob so agitated in the beginning when speaking to the BBC female reporter is it 'cos Ms. Sharanjit Leyl mentioned the 149 magic figure?
Back to the drawing board.. BBC must pay 50k too.
