why so many people are selling 35 cron recently?

Not to mention d very good summarons (both f/2.8 & f/3.5) which are so much cheaper than d modern ASPH crons n lux but resolving as good if not better than them at f/4.0 and f/5.6. Perfect for street photography.

Agree!

35 CRON ASPH must be the most purchased and then sold-off Leica lens :)

It is not a bad lens but I reckon many buyers expect it to be "magical" and then got disappointed, and then sell it off. OTOH, the "Bokeh King" seems more loved than the CRON ASPH.

"Bokeh", "harsh", "glow", "classic", quite amusing sometimes.:bsmilie:

Frankly, I don't get why the bokeh king is the king either. The bokeh isn't much better than other lenses I have seen. :dunno:

Bokeh King shot w/o (illustrative shot, not mine haha):

Try shooting one like this with the CRON ASPH and compare the bokeh, and you will understand.

Let me have a shot...

Set 1
Asph
v4

Set 2
v4
Asph

Asph is heavy though...

(Not from the bokeh, which is dependent on distance to subject; but from the flare(/"glow") on the cap and the sharpness)

ASPH has a little more distortion too.

U R rite... there is a significant glow on the cap from the V4 version as compared to the sharper ones from the ASPH... So depends on the photographer's preferences then...

Full marks everyone. You guys are good! Interesting but not surprising that the contrast on the bottle cap, rather than the bokeh, was the give away.

Besides the contrast difference wide open, you can also see from these photos that the ASPH is actually a slightly longer focal length than the V4 and throws the background a little more out of focus. As for the quality of the bokeh, I think its a toss-up and comes down to personal preference. I prefer the "fluffiness" of the ASPH bokeh over the "swirlyness" of the V4 bokeh, but admit that the differences are minimal and subject to background distance and shape of the background also play a big part in determining what the bokeh would look like. As to which is "better", how long is a piece of string?

I agree that the ASPH is on the heavy side for an f2 lens...

Sets me thinking. D glow by d V4 really looks interesting to me. Will really need to see if I should get d V4 rather than d ASPH cron 35. How about V3? As good as V4?

Any version Summicron qualifies as good! All comes down to which imaging qualities you prefer. The differences between versions are usually quite subtle and any version can make great photos in the right hands.

lol there aren't any bad crons, just bad photographers ;p

So d bad photographers r splurging on crons believing it will help him or her in taking better pics. Maybe it helps just s little. LOL

wow thanks bros for comparing different versions of 35cron. it is very informative!

D question is also if such glow can be achieved via Canon or Nikkor legacy lenses at very wide apertures, does it justify to pay so much money on Leica Pre ASPH lenses just for the "glow"? Or does it justify more to pay for super tack sharpness in ASPH versions of Crons and Luxes? What's yr take, guys? Myself now is also in dilemma on either getting a ASPH Chrome Cron 35 or a Pre ASPH Titanium Lux 35... Since I can get either of them at the same price. Appreciate bros and sisses here who had come across both of these lenses to advise. Many thanks.

I too was caught between the 2 choices for a while but went of the cron asph instead. Size and sharpness aside, I chose cron for the MFD.... Never like the idea of working with MFD of 1m

Ahem 35 summicron v1 has a 0.65m focusing. Beat that asph!

He is comparing between cron asph and lux per asph

Aiya. Use helicoid adapters. Haha. My ultron 35 is having a 0.26m MFD

M using helicoid adapter to my NEX 7. So MFD not much of an issue for me. More on d Bokeh n sharpness balance.

i guess I have much less BBB virus and will stay happy with all my CV lens collection. recently got a german made V 35/3.4 Skoperex and also ordered a Prominent Nokton 50/1.5. waiting to test those Germany made legends with my NEX7

D problem wif cv 35-1.2 ASPH 2 is d size n weight. Sigh. If not I'll get it for sure. Even d 50-1.5 Prominent looks chunky.

Indeed the CV 35 f1.2 v2 is huge and heavy it's also the reason why I got a cron. However, the images from lens is amazing and I love how I can take pictures under crazy low lighting conditions (only 1 candle light as lighting) so I'm keeping the lens as the lens for that purpose
