Agree!

35 CRON ASPH must be the most purchased and then sold-off Leica lens
It is not a bad lens but I reckon many buyers expect it to be "magical" and then got disappointed, and then sell it off. OTOH, the "Bokeh King" seems more loved than the CRON ASPH.
"Bokeh", "harsh", "glow", "classic", quite amusing sometimes.:bsmilie:
Frankly, I don't get why the bokeh king is the king either. The bokeh isn't much better than other lenses I have seen. :dunno:
Set 1
ASPH
V4
Set 2
V4
ASPH
(Not from the bokeh, which is dependent on distance to subject; but from the flare(/"glow") on the cap and the sharpness)
ASPH has a little more distortion too.

Besides the contrast difference wide open, you can also see from these photos that the ASPH is actually a slightly longer focal length than the V4 and throws the background a little more out of focus. As for the quality of the bokeh, I think its a toss-up and comes down to personal preference. I prefer the "fluffiness" of the ASPH bokeh over the "swirlyness" of the V4 bokeh, but admit that the differences are minimal and subject to background distance and shape of the background also play a big part in determining what the bokeh would look like. As to which is "better", how long is a piece of string?
I agree that the ASPH is on the heavy side for an f2 lens...
Any version Summicron qualifies as good! All comes down to which imaging qualities you prefer. The differences between versions are usually quite subtle and any version can make great photos in the right hands.

wow thanks bros for comparing different versions of 35cron. it is very informative!
Thoth said:D question is also if such glow can be achieved via Canon or Nikkor legacy lenses at very wide apertures, does it justify to pay so much money on Leica Pre ASPH lenses just for the "glow"? Or does it justify more to pay for super tack sharpness in ASPH versions of Crons and Luxes? What's yr take, guys? Myself now is also in dilemma on either getting a ASPH Chrome Cron 35 or a Pre ASPH Titanium Lux 35... Since I can get either of them at the same price. Appreciate bros and sisses here who had come across both of these lenses to advise. Many thanks.
