I think the main dissent is those ppl are comparing the LX3 with dSLRs..

:bsmilie: i do.. and the DR of a small little sensor (jpeg) could actually beat the crap out of my old 400D(raw)

Comparing between an LX3 and a DSLR is like comparing a Mazda Miata with a Ferrari. I have a Nikon D3 but it is not something I want to lug about everywhere I go. My LX3 is a great little camera to bring along just about anywhere and the results are very good for something so compact. My two cents worth.

I love the LX3. Got mine last Oct.

I guess before we buy something we need to rationalized why we need it, or is it based on the opinion of others that justify our purchase... :dunno:

I wonder how does this Lx3 match up with the leica brother Dlux4.

Before anyone compares this P&S with a DSLR, you must first determine what kind of photography you want to do. To write it off as just another P&S does not do justice to what the LX3 is capable of. I've seen underwater shots taken with the LX3 & I became fully convinced too. Being a travel photojournalist, sometimes it's just not viable to lug so much when you have to be on the field to document & get your story. I got it to replace my Olympus C5050z as an underwater system.......now waiting for the housing to arrive. I'm not letting go of mine for sure.

I think LX3 should b a prosumer, not a P&S cos its better den most P&S but definitely cant match a DSLR in many regions....

I dun think the ricoh Cx-1 come anywhere near tha LX3... with 1/2.3" CMOS sensor , 28mm lens and F3.3-5.2 aperature..

I've half a mind to lock up this thread (AND the LX3 studio shoot thread below) ........ its making it so difficult for me to get a 2nd hand LX3 at any kind of discount !!! :) :bsmilie:

Bro, can i check how's the HD Video quality of this cam?

I may get it as a backup cam cum video as well....since my ixus870 is only VGA quality.

I've used the LX3 for a few days and cannot understand the comment that the LX3 is not very pocketable .... that fella must be wearing skin tight pants one size too small...... I have to sometimes dig around my bermuda pockets to find the camera and often pull out my iPhone or Blackberry by mistake

...... then the Canon and Nikon must be in crisis as I notice about a few hundred or more of their products (both brands) being put up for sale within the same time frame.

The Canon 70-200 2.8 must be in trouble....... 5 of these lenses put up for sale within the last 24hrs alone.

WTSell Ixus threads are about 10 pages (yes 10 PAGES) worth of WTSell Ixus threads

WTSell Coolpix threads also about 10 pages worth ..... siao liao.....

What casing u using for your LX3, or you just put it naked in your pocket?

HD quality I find not bad, BUT 2GB/approx 10min limit per video file, right? This is "if I rem correctly"

yea is around there. but some who've tried says it just keeps on recording past the estimated limit though

aint too shabby for 720p quality videos

I totally agree with you. That's why for crucial pictures, I still use my DSLR.
