Why so called "models" with little or less experience can demand paid shoots?

mass shots in the near future, when the organisers realise that they can gain popularity by charging $1, and holding shoot at national stadium

One dolla one dolla sir!

Low profit margin but high sales volume:sweat::sweatsm:

I wonder how old these photographers are?
I have never been to these shoots before, anyone knows?
The youngest I ever met was a 14-year boy with a DSLR .... think he found the sister (the model ) too old for his liking ....
and the oldest is 75-year with a PnS cam .... we need to wait like a full one, two minutes for him to complete a focus and click.....
btw, he specialises in female models shoot and is always proud to show his last shot images .... he is still around with a photo club and I think we shouldn't blackwash anyone (at any age) for the interest in this subject.
I would say going to cheap, CS organised photoshooting is definately a healthy and despite many accusations from many here, is a fun way to spend one's free time .... it's not as bad as say, going to geylang resorts, horse racing, gambling, computer/arcade games, etc...
There are many other reasons why ppl enjoy such shoots, and everyone has their own reasons. Their reasons may not appeal or be acceptable to some here, but it's their life, and probably this is one way he de-stresses himself from his job or family, etc.

The same goes to these young models .... IMO, the short time they experimented with the modeling time here with us will enrich them for the rest of their life, building up their self- confidence and waking up their social expectations. Give them encouragement instead. The material reward is very subjective .... it's totally a "demand/supply" issue. Personally I dont have much problem with this, as in some occasions I rejected shoots because I was quoted an amount I felt was totally not worth, but also in many occasions, I was being offered to shoot for free, both by the models and friends. From any angle, it's still a very low-cost pastime.

So, let's us not label these ppl, and esp if one has never been to one ....:nono:

All aspiring models should read this and give us TFCD instead of charging us.

Without photographers where will they be? :)

all girls after 3 years old onward, all want the same two things when they grow up.

#1, all want to be a princess..

#2, all want to wear the most beautiful wedding grown on their special day.

#3, all want their photos to be posted in CS P&P. :bsmilie:

Hey Brother, where got TFCD any more??

Even girls just out of their diapers want to charge me $30 per hour. :bsmilie:

I have to carry lollies in the filter compartment of my Lowepro. :bsmilie:

Wrong way of thinking. Outside SG, the process is like this:

1. Pretty girl wants to be a model
2. Pretty girl PAYS A PHOTOGRAPHER (in cash or... well, depends on the country) for a portfolio
3. Pretty girl brings this portfolio to all the modeling or casting agencies in the phone book
4. Pretty girl may need to continue to pay for updated portfolios
5. After all this investment, she may have a chance at a professional shoot in a magazine or a print ad.

This is how it goes in SG:
1. Average looking girl figures that when she's at Sentosa, the old uncles take pictures of her in a bikini anyway
2. Average looking girl posts a "wannabe model, pay me!" ad on CS
3. Many CS people think this is the correct process and pay hard-earned $$$ to the no-talent, no-looks, no-training model wannabe.
4. Photographers post pictures of these girls on a public forum, making the girls feel special and ego-bloated by posing "wow, so chio" posts, while people from outside SG see the pictures and think "are these guys desperate? Where are the pretty girls?"

That's the way it should go. :)

I really have no ideas (cause I don’t know anything about Photography – still very very new)…..this threads reads - Models with less experience.

Maybe they just wanna make some Pocket Money I guess (ok lah live & let’s live), don’t charge too high ok liao.

Maybe next time I get you all some Singapore Idols ‘Singers” you pay them take shots…Kekekeke …Hey I’m a Drummer lah.

Or, Maybe I should invite you all to take Female-Drummer Models – something new I guess (This one it’s free – you just take photos – but must give some to us ) ok?

there used to be a time when an organizer will get some gals, and collect enough money from participants to cover transport to shooting location, refreshments and snacks. those were the good old days.... :)

Ok but where do the Female-Drummer Models hang their drums? :bsmilie:

Heh well I'm late to the discussion as usual (sorry lah...exam time...) but I think I can sum everything up:

1. Models who have this so-called "standard" but are willing to do TFCDs are really those who're looking to build a real career (at least for the near future) in modelling, so have an active interest in boosting their portfolios - therefore willing to do TFCDs with photographers with suitable skill levels.

2. Our "models" are not looking for a career, they're just looking for extra pocket money (which probably explains why so many of them are like 16-19yrs old). So they just want paid shoots, couldn't care less about the quality of the photos, but if got nice one then good lah! Can post on facebook.

3. There're people who're willing to pay to spend time with these girls, maybe chat with them and have a meal with them after the shoot.

Demand and supply - there you have it. It's really quite an easy way to earn money for pretty-ish girls, I've even told my gf to consider it :P

:what: Hmm... not again. I thought this topic has been raised many times...
If you want to shoot, just book a model and shoot. If you don't want to shoot, then don't shoot. Is there any issue here? There is no free lunch anyway. It is like you go into a shop to buy things. If you think the stuff is not worth the money, then don't buy. Other people will feel it is worth it. There is no need to criticize how models charge.

New or experienced models don't matter. The model's attitude is important. It is easy to see whether a model is good. If you say you will shoot her (be it paid or TFCD) next weekend and she keeps asking you how she can dress, style, or pose to suit your theme, then you should congratulate yourself that you have found a good model. The second is punctuality and turning up for the shoot. If all these conditions are met, then you can give yourself a pat on the back on your shooting day. Age does not matter. Some young ladies here are good models.

Someone complaint that the models here are usually not obedient enough to justify much payment ....
i tested on this model and IMO she passed with flying colors!

"will you kiss the ground for me?"....
why not?... she answered.:o

pl7305.jpg

"will you jump into the river for me?" .....
why not? .... she answered.

before she jumped, i asked ...:"can you swim?"
NO... she answered.
I asked her to pack up and we went for a drink instead .....
