why no A580 in singapore?

actually i wonder what the purpose of these complaining members are. one of them has asked for opinions in another sub-forum about changing his gear. while the other few will OT in unrelated topics and start bashing Sony.

if they don't like Sony, why complain? there're many other brands to choose from.

maybe sony singapore reads this?? I am thinking of getting into sony, specifically A850. But I am worried if whether sony singapore will support the Alpha line fully. I really don't think they sold a bunch of A850 in singapore and going by that logic, does it mean that its replacement may not be launched in singapore?

I think sony singapore needs to wake to and understand the impact of NOT releasing models in the Singapore market. I just don't give consumers the confidence that Sony is serious in supporting the Singapore market.

LOLx... A non-Sony users making complains about Sony gear? LOLx... People like me who actually using Sony Alpha gear don't even bother... LOLx... A lot of us is waiting closely to A77 or A7xx... FYI.

By the way, we have been repeatedly telling you, YOU CAN BUY A580 FROM OVERSEA! SONY WILL SUPPORT THE TLW (ASIA PACIFIC) WARRANTY!

I think you are missing some basic economics.

1. No, why would Sony SG read this?
2. Why would they not support the alpha line "fully"? They will support any alpha camera you bring in.
3. The replacement may not get launched if, and only if, their next full-frame sensor is in limited supply - which it won't be.
4. I think you need to wake up and understand that it is NOT a matter of "Meeeeh, let's skip Singapore". It's NOT Sony Singapore's decision about the A580 - It's Sony Global. and the reason why it was not launched here is because of GLOBAL SHORTAGES of that sensor. Even the A55 is almost always sold out.

As I said before, if they had enough sensors to fully meet global demand for both camera types, both would be here.

the A850 is already out. you can purchase it :D it was mentioned in the news that they're fully supporting the full-frame business. if they weren't, you wouldn't have the CZ 24mm F2 that's out in the market now, or the future 500mm G lens.

Ya lo... For all of us who are existing Sony users, we would be the one jumping-up-&-down and KPKB if Sony is not serious about supporting the market here. Did you see us worry?

alamak... since when did I complain a single sentence about sony gear? Did I say sony DSLR not good? Or their lens not good? I am complaining about sony singapore.... don't be so defensive.

Are you sure sony DSLR bodies has international warranty? I know canon/nikon does not have international warranty on the bodies. olympus has though.

Bro! Read the link in my post la! Aiyo...

FYI, I know bro bought almost all his Sony gear from HK, and Sony SG still honor the warranty. Just make just you perform the conversion locally to TLW.

To be honest... I would still wait for A77 or (hopefully) A7xx before rush to get a A5xx series. Unless really urgent.

this current episode reminds me of the story of the Old Man, his Grandson and their Donkey... hmmm

I am reading this thread with a level of amusement....

Guys... We are talking buying a camera... With advancement in Internet shopping, isn't it so easy to buy one from the comfort of your home and have it deliver to you with full warranty? Even if it is available oat the shop, I generally find the staff are not trained enuf to give you accurate info on the products.

A camera system is only as good as it's user. You either choose to buy it today and use it to produce your work or just keep waiting for the next best camera.

Regards,

Hart

Did you tell them SG price is too much higher compare to HK??!

Wanted to go there give my "view", but then I was not free. I think, some of our bros went there.

Just read about the TLW here and have some questions :

http://www.sony-asia.com/section/warrantyinfo

1) Is there any difference between the warrant given to local sets bought here with local warranty with the TLW on sets bought overseas ?

2) Do we need to convert the TLW to local warranty on these sets ? The website did not say so. It only says that when the set needs warranty repair, you need to present the TLW card and the Purchase Invoices.

3) If we need to convert the TLW, how do we do it ? Can we do it online ?

4) Is it true that Sony had already shifted their repair workshop from here to Malaysia ?

Thanks !

Hi guys,

Saw a lot of buzz and good remarks on A580 if you have A33/A55 is worth to get another body in this case A580? or just wait for the A77 or go FF? :D

1) Is there any difference between the warrant given to local sets bought here with local warranty with the TLW on sets bought overseas ?

Local warranty is 12+3 months, tourist warranty is 12 months only.

2) Do we need to convert the TLW to local warranty on these sets ? The website did not say so. It only says that when the set needs warranty repair, you need to present the TLW card and the Purchase Invoices.

Yes, in the country you bought them in. So if you buy in HK, bring it to SonyStyle HK and ask them to convert to SG warranty.

3) If we need to convert the TLW, how do we do it ? Can we do it online ?

See above.

4) Is it true that Sony had already shifted their repair workshop from here to Malaysia ?

Yup but so far no impact on turnaround time. Just can't drop it off directly at their Tuas centre anymore.
