Why my new 7D come with Shutter Count 0679 ??

I c I c Bro check at CSC how do i do it? As mine was rather new thats why i check it that way when it just came out of the box at the shop.

I think there are better ways to use your time than to check the shutter count of a brand new camera.

Ok i just uploaded 2 photo taken the image are picture 001 and picture 002

Anyway its my time and not yours how i want to use it is really not your business seriously. As a user and new to this forum i am just doing a casual check that all. i did not say if the shutter count is very bad i am going to change or what i will still use my camera.

after a trip to melacca last sunday and upload the photo to computer, realiase that the photo sequence numbers was started from 0679 onward. I was shock after checking the shutter count on the 7D body base on the Instruction manual.
The sequence number of the file does not reflect the shutter count. Period.
The file sequence number is nothing but a number added to name the files. Your manual will describe how you can influence it. There is a setting of 'pick up sequence number from existing file' (default!) and 'start from zero'. Probably some sales man popped in a card with existing files and the camera picked it up, keeping the sequence.
Battery counter is a different topic altogether. So please, before suspecting any cheat, chop and whatnot spend some time reading the manual from beginning till the end and back. There are tools that can extract the shutter count from the image file. Not sure yet whether they are up to date for 7D.

I got my D700 from MS Color too and the shutter count was 60+......well only discovered that when reach home...LL just move on....and the camera is still working fine coming to 2 years

hey i just bought my 7D also mine start from 001, when i bought it the sales person took 2 picture but nv put in the memory card (coz claim from Canon HQ), it was not counted in the shutter count. so either way something is wrong for 0679, anyway wish u gd luck~ by the way ur Optical Viewfinder got yellow spot when u take out ur battery n look at a piece of white paper?

Even if the CF card is not in, those 2 pictures are still counted as shutter actuation's by the internal system. Only CSC can do a proper shutter count on a 7D.

Agreed. As per Raydio's comment, only way is to let the Canon Service Centre run their service tool. So far I heard only the 5D MKII actuation readable. The 7D actuation has to be read at the service centre.

WM910 - Lucky you. Got clean set, but perhaps that maybe due to the battery count. Have you checked with CSC about the actual shutter shots, maybe not? BTW, welcome to the club of 7D owners.

it is not an issue. A fully-charged battery will reset the count to zero.
