Why Micro Four Thirds ?

Personally, I find the grip too thin for me. The E510/520 grip will have been perfect.

I agree, horizontally, the camera with the grip is fine, vertically, it just feels off

After all the hype, it looked like the Gh3 will be a minor increment over the existing. It would have been easier choice cos am already vested into M43. Plus I shoot zero video, of late and the foreseeable future.

Last but not least, the new Nikon sensor allows resolution never before seen. Impt cos I like shooting macro.

Actually I like the vertical grip. It just nice. I hv got quite big hands (1.75m tall). The vertical grip works more like finger grips and allows me to hold the camera with the tip of my fingers in between shots. To me size is key and if i wanted anything bigger, i would hv stuck with E620 or even the E5. I think the EM5 is as perfect as they can make it now. For those who need a fuller grip, the GH series may be better bec they have a more dslr type of grip.

Diff people diff needs, I've met people my height but slightly bigger hand size overall due to long skinny fingers, people my size with smaller feet

spidey u got eight leg which feet u r referring to...? kekeke..

the 2 on the ground lor

Keep it up. I am trying to convince myself why I should have 2 systems? Sound idiotic but I also ask myself why not. So in the end I am happen to shoot with whichever. I still my Nikon locally but the Oly for overseas travel. Hack with grown up children, I often take both along......Flamenco, you made a good start in conversation on this.... I like to hear more. What I like so far in reading is not on brand argument (which can be very biased) but on the systems (which I think is objective).

That was a curve ball.... The watch mvt shot was taken with a pany 45mm, not D600 :)

Was trying to elicit comments if any, on any discernible differences.

I like the watch too! Maybe we shld arrange a horology GTG in future as well.

May I add that technique makes up for equipment used, rather lack of. That requires lotsa reading and experimentation. And a photo is as good as its composition!

My choice of system mainly lies with lenses, and macro is a must since I am a watch nut. the system determines the camera/brand one invests in. Period! IMO, Nikon has leapfrog Canon ever so slightly despite having fewer choices in lens selection. Have always been a canon fanboy, so it take lotsa courage to plunge Nikon. That's objectivity! Hahahh

On a separate but related note, both systems offer different off camera files. Let me rant/elaborate and further the topic.

Compression is the enemy, lossy formats that is. I try to work with RAW whenever supported by software, and tiff if otherwise, quite fruitless if I take photos in jpeg with a FF. having said that the omd offered vibrant jpeg off camera! Amazing! Still, compression of a good FF sensor photo offered discernible difference after compression, due to the dynamic range when a photo was first taken.

And with the onging megapixel war, processing has becoming challenging due to hardware limitations! Not to mention storage requirements! ( Reason why i choose the D600 over the D800) Such is technology n consumerism.... Go to the Nikon forum here n figure out how many D800 owners have had to upgrade computers, or think they have to!

KY, I say go with wat makes u happy and happy shooting with. When u feel it, it shows in your photos. All that sweat lugging equipment becomes inconsequential, until u visit the TCM. Hahah

I guess if you have the resources, why not 2 systems? So long as you know you will use it.

Flamenco, Cannot agree more..on composition and all that in my days holding a FE is already big deal for me. I love raw too (including shashimi as well) plus I also love your D600 set up..... Enticing!!!

Agree.... it's the same old story. The PHOTOGRAPHER! Nowadays we are spoilt for choice. My former boss said that in his native country the machines are expensive and "dead accurate" after long time (I am in the precision profession)....reason: hahaha the machines were bought because there is budget and the grease is still on them after a long time (therefore the precision is still there and it is "dead").

One problem I have with 2 systems is that my dry cabinet has no more space. At least some of my lenses can be used on both systems.

I know that feeling, luckily I only got 1 lens for 43 and 1 for m43 hahaha
