Sorry if I am wrong, but can someone please tell me what is wrong with the thread above.
It may have been posted in the wrong section in the first place since he/she is new here.
But I do not see why the thread should be closed and others below, less relevant to photography be allowed. After all he is a GWC ( Guy/Gal With Computer) messing about with photos all the likely than someone wanting a spade and shovel to bury maybe some xxmm prints.

dunno leh.... I try to follow all the guildlines but sometimes quite confusing as different mods has different tolerance. But that is expected lah, everyone is different, so are the mods.

a charger for a notebook is not considered a photography related item as its primary role has nothing to do with photography

Sorry if I am wrong, but I still do not understand what is wrong with leaving the thread open in Kopitiam. To me it still more relevant to photography than a question on spades and shovels. In fact my local photography shop stock such an item as the charger can also be used to charge or provide power to some digital cameras which I have done in the past. I know it is not recommended by the branded companies but in an emergency, it very useful. Sorry, also as lots of us are new here, please as much as possible, not use acronymns when replying. I for one am still trying to figure out what is WTB threads? I hope you are not thinking I am questioning all your authority, as I find almost all forums very helpful. Thank you.

Sorry about my laziness on the acronyms. Actually I did go to that section in the first place but gave up on the second page. Thank you for highlighting it in red on the third page. I just happen to be one of those old school fellows that would not even read an acronym message on a handphone. Sorry. Forgive me if I am wrong as I only thought that Kopitiam was a general section of your forum and we could talk about anything under the sun, so long we keep it civil and not offend anyone. Since all your forums are very helpful to someone like me, newly retired. I thought I could help that guy or gal with his charger. Those muti connector type. I used to use it for my laptop and also downloading pictures from my digital camera before cardreaders became standard equipment, to save on batteries. Thanks you for all your help.

I am a bit puzzled abiout this as well. The posting guidelines thread for the Kopitiam section includes this line:

"In addition to the basic tenets, although Kopitiam is meant as a catch-all area for things not related to photography, posts/threads which are:
religious,
political,
racist;
in nature or can be construed as such will also be removed without prejudice. "

which suggests that not only is it perfectly acceptable to post non-photography threads, but also that this is the purpose of the kopitiam forum.

I am not trying to challenge anyone or cause any trouble. I just think it would be good to have some clarification, especially since none of the replies so far address TS's point about spades and shovels being allowed, but laptop chargers not being allowed.

Not to sound rude but we mostly discuss irrelevent photogrpahy subjects in kopitiam e.g where to go to get good photo spots, big camera better or small camera better or where to buy cheap camera accessories.

We don't talk about laptops or chargers. These are topics for other forums. However we do talk about photoshop which is a touch up program found in the laptop. While photoshop may be irrelevent but it is an essential tool in photography.

We talk about spade not for gardening purpose but to clear some spot in nature to do macro photography. We can't possibly use our hands right?

Car rental...ahh...some of us don't have cars so got to rent a car to go to some obscure spot early in the morning to take sunrise shots.

Our mods say cannot then cannot lor. After all laptop and charger got no bearing in photography.

Your point of view is interesting. A decision was made and the reason given when the thread was closed shows that we may have overstep the acceptable use policy of ClubSNAP.

laptop and charger are not designed primarily for photography.

Some clarification for members who are posting their items here in Buy & Sell and are facing difficulty in placing them either in Kopitiam or here (or have had their posts moved)

Photography-related items are those items that are primarily designed to be used in the course of creating your images (whether digital or film), thus, by using the above definition the following items will qualify as photography-related:-

Film/Digital Cameras (SLRs, Point & Shoots, Digicams, Video Cameras), Flashes, Studio paraphernalia, tripods, ballheads, lenses, filters, films, camera bags, batteries, chargers, CF Cards/Readers, Photo Printers (note word Photo), Digitising tablets, Scanners (slide/film and specialised flatbeds), Darkroom equipment.

Items NOT Allowed in Buy & Sell and will be moved:-
PCs, Monitors, disk drives, CD/DVD-writers.

The two lists are by no means exhaustive and will be updated from time to time.

note that by "chargers" CS means camera/flash battery chargers. not laptop chargers

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. I'm looking for a place where I can buy a laptop charger, specifically the Asus ADP-90SB 90W AC power adapter for Asus laptops. Or realistically, a replacement charger.

I've been told that Sim Lim Square is the best place for this. I'm having a friend pick it up for me, so does anyone have any recommendations for which stores in Sim Lim Square would carry replacement chargers? And if they are reliable?
