Why I should continue to buy lenses from Singapore

canon malaysia is having a warehouse sale this weekend in kl.. will let you guys know if anything good worth considering

Oh Dear. I feel CANON/Malysia will regret for the kind of Let Down Feeling it has generated amongst the CANON lovers in the name of CANON WAREHOUSE SALE, specially if U R looking for photogear.

The US have their year end Canon mail-in rebate.

There's something seriously wrong with the pricing here. Lower demand items tend to be tremendously more expensive. For example, the MT-24EX I just ordered from B&H costs me 30% less (almost S$400) than the local shops. And that's without even counting in the US$30 rebate. It's a similar case with certain lenses like the 180L Macro and the 300F2.8L IS just to name a few.

if u fly to other countries to buy, u still have to pay for the air ticket. so its still cheaper to buy here. and when u buy here, u get to see and touch the lens faster.

if u discard the above logic and insist that mail ordering will exclude the payment of the air ticket, then u will include the risk of "the unknown" when waiting for the lens to arrive by air mail. i.e anything can happen to the lens on its journey here.

so might as well buy here. u also have second hand market here..cheaper too.

go nikkor lah. The nikkor lens pricing in Singapore is not too bad. Only a little higher than US (like 5-10% due to GST)


why support canon why canon singapore treat you guys as second class citizen compared to the rest of the world?

aiyah. singapore lenses is extremely expensive. even for nikon too !

ridiculous...nikon singapore should wake up too.. maybe they should ask around. hw many of them are buying lenses from overseas...

i must say... sooner or later they will realise that most of us will be buying lens from the states and hk.

Things like the 85mm f1.4 USD$1023 from Amazon. Singapore around $16xx.

Which nikkor lens are you talking about which are cheaper overseas? My brother coming back from US, maybe can ask him to get for me.

HK has more stuffs which are considered cheaper here.

US would be the teles are much cheaper. IMHO. compare the 300 2.8 and here. Adorama is a good place to start of comparing.

singapore is selling stuffs which is ridiculously priced. but of course sometimes when we need that thing urgently, so got no choice but to get it from the local stores and kenna chop chop chilli.

Yes of course. If you're buying up to the mid-range models, you get the complimentary soon-to-be obsolete CF card, a overweight marketing brochure called "Lens Workbook" and sometimes a complimentary self-protection baton they call a tripod,k or a pouch for filters they call a camera bag.
