Why I should continue to buy lenses from Singapore

Wait long long also no use....

Yap .. don't think there will be any big surprise from Canon Singapore.

Why you still want to buy lens from Singapore? Can just look see look see and bring the lens home instantly lor :), buy from overseas need to wait for shipment :bsmilie: ...

Anyway for not-to-expensive lens, the cost of shipment may not justify your buy. If you go there yourself to buy then it is a totally different story :)

wait long long, plus GST is increasing. No joy and more sorrow.

The US have their year end Canon mail-in rebate.

Hongkong have their HKD2,800 cash rebate.

Does Canon Singapore have any surprises for us or we wait long long ....

term and condition said that must buy with a 5D or 1D Mk II
(coz when u send in the rebate they require both invoice from the L lens and the Cam)

:dunno:

Before you guys jump into the bandwagon, kindly read the fine print about the rebate in HK.

Selected L lenses only

EF 17-40mm f4L USM
EF 16-35mm f2.8L USM
EF 24-70mm f2.8L USM
EF 24-105mm f4L IS USM
EF 70-200mm f4L USM
EF 70-200mm f4L IS USM
EF 70-200mm f2.8L USM
EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM
EF 85mm f1.2L II USM

Selected Camera bodies only

EOS 5D
EOS 1D mk IIN

Choose 1 L lens + 1 body for the above list in order to obtain the rebate. This means that you need to buy both items.

yes... totally aware about the body to package with the lens....

Point here is ... Don't Canon Singapore have some form of year end promotion or any promotion for that matter (whatever it may be) for the consumers in Singapore? Why do buyers of lenses here have to look outside of the country just to get a better deal .... Are we being taken for granted?

basically yes.
the marketing guys at canon singapore think it is not necessary to have such year end promotion. business is good in the first place, so why need to give such year end promo....
unless like nobody is buying anymore canon stuffs, then they will do something...

n most probably only less than 5% of the canon buyers are you, will do some comparsion with other country canon offers.... and less than 1% of canon buyers will really buy from other country....

The rebates are for residents of HK and Macau

that can easily be arranged.

I have been buying more and more overseas. Canon prices in Singapore is just remarkably high.

If the numbers are right, it's a sad truth. Perhaps the other 95% ought to know there are other options out there ....

The rebate in US do not require you to get the body. BUT, you will need to ask a US resident to claim the rebate (so need to get kaki over there). Nevertheless, before rebate pricing still much cheaper than in here :(

canon malaysia is having a warehouse sale this weekend in kl.. will let you guys know if anything good worth considering

The prices are a lot higher in Singapore than HK and US. I am here in HK right now and am so tempted to buy the 5D and the 24-105 which was what I was looking for (happy coincidence!). I also buy stuff from B&H from time to time. In fact I was at their shop last month but didn't buy anything!

Truth is, without rebate, both HK and US are cheaper than SG. This includes shipping and GST when the goods arrive in SG.

The savings are tremendous!

Here's an example:

5D Body + BG E-4 + EF24-105mm f4.0L

In Singapore is approx. SGD7500 incl. gst and 2% for credit card

In US (B&H online) SGD6724 incl. delivery and GST when goods arrive in SG

Take away another USD300 (SGD462) for the 5D if you are able to get a rebate through someone in the US.

In HK SGD6725 incl 2% credit card

SGD5850 after the rebate! So long as you can produce the receipt and the box with the bar code because this is a promo for stuff bought during this period (till end December).

I am really tempted!!!!

Yuoz, good prices in HK. And Canon HK has got lots of goodies for exchange via a points system. Seems to be doing a lot more for Canon users. Go check out the website.;)

Correction: Canon US will give you double rebate since you buy more than 2 items .. that means 600 USD rebate for the 5D and I believe ~100 USD rebate for the lens .. now go count the saving again  ...

Yes I remember now some guy next to me at B&H buying a 5D and a lens and the sales guy was telling him about massive savings. Didn't pay much attention then. Thought it was sales talk. :)

Let's all boycott Canon lenses in Singapore then.... This is the global economy now. Buy from where it is the most competitive.
