I am sure in 10 years time you will still be able to find CDROM drives if you needed to..

Well, you can use DVD drives to read them, you know? I'd expect the next gen blue laser drives to be able too.

if money is not an issue, there is no reason why anybody would reject DSLR.

it is the best technology can do for photography. with the digital image, we can edit and do a 1001 things to modify the final image.

wish Santa can give me an DSLR...

if technology is not an issue, I want a compact with 16mm-500mm f2.0, 4-6mp and weighs about 300g and runs for 1000 shots on 2 AAs.
dun mind paying 3-4k for it... :D

Ooooopppss...i;ll perfer a superdigital - a super metellic but super light weigh body, super compact, super wide angle to super tele zoom at super constant f1.0 with super on the dot light metering, and with super mega pixel resolution but still with the super flexibility to revert to ordinally film on the same body using an ordinary LR44 1.5V battery for its supersonic motor winder....hahaaahaa.

LOL the ex-USSR might have it... but runs on low-grade uranium instead... and what u're holding is actually the remote control with a "SHOOT" button and a dioptre ;)

not hard really, u just need a ccd that's really small, and like half-frame cams, maybe the single 35mm frame can shoot 49 shot like a lomo actionsampler LOL...

what is no possible....

i thought seiko makes kinetic watches that run forever without any battery or rewind spring?

i could have opt to become camera scientist....

and once the batt is spoiling u need to shake it like every 10 minutes to get it to work...
How's that for camera shake! LOL

is it every time someone votes and this thread will popup?

My DSLR/SLR are rotting in my dehumifier. After travelling and backpacking with lots of equipments, I think I have enough of aching shoulders and cumbersome baggages. These days, I travel light with my trusty G2 or Olympus C-5050Z.

No intention of carrying my DSLR/SLR around for travel for the time being. Just wanna enjoy the sights through my own eyes, and not through a viewfinder/LCD.

Sorry guys, no intention of selling my DSLR either, someday I might just have the itch of being SEEN with an DSLR to boost up my ego abit. Hehe..

I remember my first toured trip to China last year, I was so preoccupied with using my video cam whenever possible. I missed much of the fun my wife had, like watching a performance and there I was trying to keep my hand still while holding the camcorder and peering at the 3 inch LCD. After thinking it through, it really made feel like a first class dumb ass. I now try to do it more sparingly.

Why not to buy a DSLR? Hahahaha so simple. I am not a pro. I dont earn a living by photography.

Seriously man, I spend $5K on a DSLR with CF cards, software and all that stuff. In 2 yrs it is oredy 4 generations behind. The new model will have better colour, speed, price, megapixel and everuything else and it will sell for $4K. Ppl can get far better pix with it, can operate faster and do lot more stuff. If I sell, I may get $1K or less. Major loss... not worth.

I stick with film. Any new improvement means just spend $5-6 for that great new film and I am up to date. Can get great quality whether I shoot with a F5 or a K1000. No probs all these yrs.

high initial start up cost...

and not all of us need the 'best' out there 'for now'...

Ya actually if $$ not issue would've got one.

$$$$ issue
big as a rock
hehe
heavy
need to get insuracne in case drop or kanan stolen
heee
and i;'m not a PRO too

If cheaper ~ S$1500-S$2000 then no problem at all. No we are talking about S$3800 for a piece of electronic stuff D60. Believe me, one drop of water is all it need to kill your investment. With S$3800 you can a brand new FM2N with a set of new lenses.

This Manual kit still used flim, you still pay for the developing fees. But if you have film, it can go on and on and on until you drop. This is one HUGE advantage over all digital devices. It can function in any parts of the world at any time. If you travel round the world with your heavy gears, its no no no to digital

i guess $$ is the main reason from stopping me from getting one right now.

actually I'm quite addicted in shooting slides now. :D

another point i can think of is the constant upgrade to the Megapixel thingy. It's just like computer, now 3Ghz in time to come it will be 4~5Ghz and the 3Ghz is considered as "low tech"
