im a hobbyist. no intention of turning or even attempting to turn pro. but i shoot because it gives me pleasure. and there is a spiritual aspect of it for me as well. somehow i feel that taking and capturing some of the beauty this world has to offer (but we too often neglect) is part of my way to appreciate the wonders of my creator. :)

As a hobby:

It is relaxing and satisfying when I see the prints.

Does it apply to full time photographer ? ;)
Full time photography really can make or break your hobby in photography. I am starting to feel it happening in me. But at times there are some jobs that are really interesting and you still feel good and energised taking them on.

I like to share a beautiful scenery or moment with other people. It can be something abstract, just the interplay of shapes and colours.

Before digital cameras are popular, photography is an expensive hobby. I need to buy film and develop every shot I take just to see whether I got that composition, exposure correct. Now, with digital camera, it has become a much more affordable hobby (though the cost of digital camera still more than a analog one). So I would say digital cameras does encourage people to take up this hobby.

ha, i too started out on film more than a decade ago, so i use minimal photoshop.
get it right on site!
Hey not true friend. Digital camera is in a way made such that you are not getting the exact contrast and colour setting as compared to maybe your favourite films. This is done so as to preserve the maximum details that the CCD can capture. Some post production work is still needed to bring the colours near to your favourite films. I try to bring the colours in my pictures as close to Kodak E100VS or Fuji Velvia as possible in post processing.

Hi,

Over the years, with the proliferation of digital cameras, we see more and more people buying, taking and posting photos. So care to share why do you love taking photographs? Is it it the urge to share with everyone what you see? A form of expression? Your passion in a particular subject? Let's hear from everyone.

Regards
CK

Hey CK,

Can you give me a better excuse to get close close to girls without a camera?

Half of the cameras are sold worldwide to men for this purpose.
