Just reading about the recent incident of someone's dog attacking it's owner's own son.

There are so many breeds of dogs out there, some are pretty, some are ugly, some are cute, while others are not, but most are not that fierce.

Just can't understand why some people have to keep fierce and aggressive dogs like dobermann, pit bull, etc, and put theirs and other people's lives in danger? There are hundreds of other less aggressive dogs you can choose from, which are safer to your community.

I just want to understand from those who have experienced this issue.

So that nobody will visit you during CNY. :)

To deter thiefs and all from sneaking into their house to steal their 1Ds mkII, D2x and the arsenal of lenses? A cute puppy isn't going to have the same effect. :bsmilie:

Each breed was bred for its purpose, like hunting dogs, toy dogs and guard dogs.

I kept different breed of fierce dogs(guard dog) over the years....even the notorious pit bull. They were nothing but friendly and playful.

The aggression of dogs lies in the owners and not the animal lor.

This is the breed I am keeping now.....Neapolitan Mastiff: used in combat and coliseum in ancient Rome.

Guess you don't get many visitors, invited or otherwise.
I had a friend with 7 dogs at home. Imagine all of them running towards the gate when you approach the porch. Scary...

Thanks Drudkh, sadly the dog is getting old....frequently getting skin problems and showing signs of entropion(eye problem).

It is time consuming...for those who want to keep pet...Do think twice before committing.

The photo wasn't well taken...the face of the dog look distorted...or r u trying to create a special effect? no offend.

Beat me lor...took the pic with D70 + kitlens and circular polariser...think it was on auto and flash was used as well.

However, the way the light shined and the color of the dog. The color of this breed is known to have blueish or grey coat. Or maybe too much PS :bsmilie:

Here is another photo of the dog's size compared to a man (my bro in law).

Keeping fierce dogs at home?

You are waiting for disaster to happen. One never knows when the dog will become furious. We have heard from news about incidents that the owners' dogs attacked their kids at home! After such incidents happened, these owners always give the same answer that their dogs were friendly & well behaved before the tragedies happened; They never expected their dogs to behave in such manner at all.

Who knows if these dogs have inherited genes from previous dogs which had bad history of attacking people.

Friend, all dogs related to wolf lah...... :dunno:

I wonder if a man's ancestor is a killer, rapist and con artist.....should he/she also be deprieved of normal life in society. Since we are talking about genes ....

No problem with time. Can always get maid to walk the dog right? See a lot of maids walking dogs whenever I passed by landed estates. They are the ones enjoying the dog's company.

Anything wrong with dogs?

Dun own dogs cos my entire family hates animals of any kind, but den I generally find most dogs I encounter pretty friendly. They don't bite me and approach me tails wagging. :)

Note: Don't ever bend over the dog and start patting on its head. Imagine if someone taller den u bends over and starts patting ur head. Just bend down, let them sniff u. Scratch them on the neck and rub their backs and side. Most dogs I'd encountered, like that.

I think my hamsters are more fierce than the dogs... Why no one complain about hamsters...
