no leh.. i think its no big deal. i'm certain it's misunderstanding.

besides, we're all too busy and fussed up with putting bread on the table. this sorta thing 100% can't work me up.

it's ClubSnap entertainment.

whichever fotographer genre u love to do, is fine, as long as u're happy and no one gets hurt in the process.

your my man...

just hope those people who did those inconsiderate act and block the wheelchair bound guy to change their social behaviour and moral values...its speaks a lot about themselves...

it's simply passion over-drive la. when one starts to use ladder, the others follow. herd mentality a.k.a singaporean KiaSu kicks in.

but when did the ladder comes into use??? innovative singaporeans.

PC show round the concer...let see what happen...

Nothing special will happen... The event shooters will be there shooting the models; the macro shooters will be shooting insects and flora at SBG; the landscape shooter will be at Changi or Ponggol shooting Sunrise/Sunsets; the portrait specialist will be busy attending paid shoots at Sentosa; and 'Professionals' will be shooting weddings or paid events in some church or ballroom etc.... Life goes on, no matter where your interest lies in photography, paid or not paid.

Give those guys a break, they're just doing something they enjoy with their free time (except the case of the 'Professionals'). Fellow photographers should not brand and generalise these event shooters as geeks or losers just because they enjoy a different kind of photography...:nono: The few black sheeps are those inconsiderate ones with their silly ethics who block the view of the rest and causing inconvenience during events...

Let's say if there's no event shooters sharing photos anymore, should we just get the moderators to shut down Reportage and Sports as well as Ready Lights Actions? Save the precious bandwidth for Wedding Portfolios and B&S instead? What a joke...

all are photographers, one should respect each other.......................

please stop acting like fools and think when you carry all that stuff to shoot for free, ppl all respect you and like trade shows and start taking it like your own model shoot, its really really a laughing stock for lots of other people.

you dun understand that lots of mall goers are pointing and laughing at you jokers especially people of the trade (real photographers).

and if you think your camera and big mama lenses can attract models and let you befriend them, please be a man! you you want to chase gals, show them your balls and be upfront, dun use your camera as a tool, really disgusting and laughable.

yup i seen it all, cos my gang are shoppers, we like to shop and when we work pass an event show, we all snigger in laugher how you clowns spend so much time, money and effort and degrade real professional photographers who need an REAL income to cover their jobs.

oh btw, your the shots you guys put up, for what? real event org dun call 2 hoots the portfolio you presented, you want a REAL job? networking will get you further.

You think models will fall in love with you cos you can take a picture or 2? DREAM ON BROTHERS! Gals got more brains than you guys more spare money and time.

You think you can be a REAL photographer? DREAM ON! you can already shoot for free, what makes you think you can make a living out for it?

you think its your passion and hobby, YAYAYAYA....... and the story goes di da di da di, lots of booshit. Spent more time wanking infront of your computers boys, its cheaper.

for all the time i resisted making personal comments of sort for years but these for, wannabees, really makes my day.:bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

you could have say it to them infront of their face ..
damn bloody well said ..

to the Thread 106..
Plesae get a life..some where...

I get really tired reading defensive comment from some. ... really tired ..

This thread is funny man. So are the response of some anti-event shooter.

If someone who shoot events without monetary return is silly, loser, what about those who shoot portraits, landscape, nature whatsoever as a hobby? Are they any better?

Assuming 4 guys:

1) Event shooter A: Spent 16 hours a week shooting 2 to 3 events. Time spent including setting up ladders, chopping a good spot and chatting with friends while waiting.

2) Portrait/Model shooter B: Spent 16 hours a week shooting 1 or 2 models. Time spent including planning/conceptualising, flipping magazines for ideas of poses, setting up lightings, reflectors, softbox, diffuser, chatting with models, communicating etc etc

3) Landscape shooter C: Spent 16 hours a week shooting 1 or 2 location. Time spent including recee for a good location, studying weather forecast, waking up at 4.30am in the morning to catch the most dramatic lights, setting up tripod and waiting for the moment to happen.. sometime it just doesn't happen..

4) Nature/Macro shooter D: Spent 16 hours a week shooting one or twice. Time spent including searching high and low for birds and insects that's worth shooting while carrying loads of gears hiking in the forest.

If you ask a layman, or even better, the wife, mother or girlfriend of that 4 guys, who is the dumbest of the lot, their answer should be the same. They are equally silly, isn't it? Why work extra 2 days for free? If there are one category that appear more silly than others, it could be the model/portrait shooters because you still have to pay the models and mua, unlike the others which the subject can be shot without incurring additional cost.

Anyone who think one category appears more silly than the others, please bear in mind that to people outside this hobby, you are equally dumb. Or even worse cos you are silly enough to flame and laugh at people in the same boat.

I will like to add another category though, which I think is even much more silly than the rest..
Some photog E who choose to shoot less and spent 16 hours a week in this forum flaming and attacking others, monitoring and anticipating counter-attack and enjoy it.
These guys claim that Photographer A is silly and is a loser in life. But photog A at least got some pictures in return for the time spent. What about photog E? What did he get in return? Who is more dumb?

I agree with ur points.

Some posts, even some made by veterans here, are being generalising. Even the physical look of a person can give him/her an idea of name-callings.

Though most of us have a bad experience of over-enthu event photographers whom maybe too much for us to swallow from the thoart to the brain, we must understand the something in them, also in us : Passion

Passion - the element that, wat JSNG mentioned, make us "the dumbest of the lot".

its the moral act they protray out, lets wait and see...

I think there's no vaccine for the Ladder Virus... You're right, those inconsiderate ones will definitely surface again. Those at the back I think is not so bad, but those right in front???:dunno: I cannot understand...

using a ladder is ok..but never ever block people with it..

fashion runway photographers in milan & paris all use ladders...but they never ever block fellow photogs or cameramen or anyone else...if u want to use a ladder..be considerate!

there are more place and the price for getting the good shots are their career.. not hobby .. Milan is the place for fashion.. people pays thousand to get a front row seat. .. just to see the event..

 i think sion gets many invitations throughout the year!!!

his 'headless shots' rocked the fashion world.

and i love the mouse-trap shot. good and exciting stuff. really conjures up my imagination.

So you is also one of the event shooters?

You can't break ricebowls anymore.

People don't use bowls liao.

They eat with unbreakable Pyrex plates.

:bsmilie: :bsmilie:

hahahaha..

bring it on.. :D :D ;)

To me, theres nothing right or wrong ley? if anyone feels that blocking people is the sicking part, let me put it tis way, its free for all to stand there. what to do, they are there earlier then everyone else standing behind? Why not say that during a paid model shoot, people still block each another right? too me, that is more sickering then this..

Damn bloody well said? I say damn bloody shallow...classic example.

Get a life? Well, that's his life and nobody's getting hurt in the process except the egos of some 'bigshots'...so let him be and cut him some slack, my friends.:)

If you're the target of sacastic attack through clever words, you'll also stand up and at least defend your stance too.

Tired? Frankly speaking, I'm tired too...really tired.

dun worry bro....u will be able to sleep peacefully tonite cos yr conscience is clear;)

So you is also one of the event shooters?

Nope... but I got nothing against them or any other types of photography except those 'pervertic' types.

My camera is with me most of the time when I'm out, so I shoot almost anything under the sun. And that includes events that I happen to come across...whatever it is. Photography is just a hobby to me and my interest changes with the season and weather.;)

hey...will this bring up the topic for model shooter...

Are we done withis dead horse yet or is someone going to continue flogging it?

All this asinine back and forth with both sides of the camp insisting that they have the moral high ground is getting abit dry.

To be fair, if you want, hey, feel free to shoot and be there to add that element of glamour of flash guns going off like a mini lightning storm. I dont see any harm there but on the flip side, one should not justify his intentions behind shooting at such events.

Case in point, if this was an event filled with nothing but male models... with no cleavage, no breasts, and not a hint of sexuality. Would you honestly be so passionate to be there to shoot? Now imagine you are given an opportunity to shoot a lingerie runway show... Which event would attract more photographers? In fact, for a mixed show, one can almost get blinded bythe amount of flash power when female models are on stage. Even more so if the outfits are semi translucent but strangely enough, when the male models come on stage, you look around and realise everyone is either chimping or chatting and not shooting.

Sure, there will be a few who are truly altruistic and i do applaud these photogs but we all know the reason for the rest. The key here is not to delude ourselves or kid ourselves that we are shooting for anything else other than to satisfy our own reasons.

In the end, if you can live with it, then hey, go ahead. For the rest of us, let us not be too judgemental... it could be a phase, or it could simply be a reflection of the photog's psyche. Either way, it's their life and they can do what they want to.

I believe there are those with 'secret' agendas for shooting certain events, especially those 'sexy' female theme ones, since majority of the photogaphic community is made up of hormone-charged guys. But some of the replies have actually crossed the thin line and are being mean in their judgemental comments towards certain individuals in the forum...

That being said, I truly agree with you on your take on this whole issue and like you said, it's their life and they can do whatever they want to.:)
