Glad someone got the evidences.

Would anyone in their sane mind eat these straight up?

Mean spirited is what it is. Unable to to relax and enjoy, is a nice way to say it. Finding joy from other people's suffering is more like it!

you've obviously never been hazed for a frat membership have you? this is nothing. all i have to add is to any groom who feels humiliated. You probably knew the package you were in for when you proposed. otherwise you wouldn't have bothered asking the bride in question to spend the rest of her life with you. At the very most dun like being hazed then dun get married. Its not like you're in a shotgun wedding. Or you can just use the hazing experience later as grounds for a divorce settlement...

Actually, back then, at some point, frat hazing has got way out of hand, and is banded in most universities in the US.

That said, what does frat hazing has to do with this STUPID tradition we are talking about?

They have the same spirit. Rites of initiation if you look at it you'll see the same intention is behind both: You wanna be part of our "organization" then you gotta go thru the hoops presented to you. Hazing with frats have been banned but it still goes on. Just that its not as outrageous as before.

So getting married equates the man joining the woman's "organization"? Hmm, you mean the sisters, who was part of the "organization", will continue to be so, as the brothers of the fraternity?

Your logic is completely shot.

no its you who refuses to look at it from another pov. You obviously don't understand the meaning of rites of initiation. And i have much better things to do than to waste my time trying to convince you other wise when you refuse to look at it from another angle. Go out and enjoy your sunday. I know i will. :)

If I in anyway made you mad, uncomfortable, or whatever that might be less then comfortable, good.

My point of view is, a marriage is for celebration or a new union of 2 equal individual. I rest my case.

you didn't make me feel anything Mr Dp. I just can't be bothered to carry on a pointless arguement with you which you seem to want to have the last word on. Now if you'll excuse me I have a date with a snowcone. :)

the "sabo" pointed out by TS has nothing to do with rites of initiation. its anti social & sick. not too many decades ago women had suffered under abusive husbands (when they married into the man's family. do you see the gender bias there), now they have legal protection.

its strange that such a culture has evolved- that of a mob.

this post takes the cake.

Huh? Initiation for frat membership? What frat? Marriage is about a life-time of relationship between the husband and wife. Not some childish membership for cliques and gangs for kids in college. Spending the rest of the life with a person doesn't involve whatever frat you're talking about.

Don't like being hazed so don't get married? Whatever is there to be hazed to be initiated into a frat membership in the first place? KKK? Kool Kids Klub?
