why a700?

I'm currently using a A200, after looking at the new models (A230, A330 and A380) I decided that the only viable upgrade path is the A700 ... The new models are downright consumer... with firmware v5 the high ISO performance are much better than these new models. Wonder when the replacement for A700 will come out though... and at what $$$.

me also using A200
the only upgrade path is A700
A700 is very solid cam but only my wallet cannot afford/
:embrass:

i went from A200 to A700 and have absolutely no regrets !

I got the body from HK and its found that pricing wise its much more manageable compared to in s'pore :)

How much S$ you got in HK for?

Wow! the air fare pays for itself over the price diff! Free holiday!

Lots of talk and in the meantime the rumours of discontinuing the A700 are getting more loud. In other words, just grab it while you can, not so much to think about I guess.

Look at quality/price (what you get for you hard earn dollars, amazingly!) and it is currently one of the best camera's in the industry.

I am not going to be poisoned by this thread... :sweat:

A 700 is far too good comparing with =others model make. Do not miss the opportunity once the A 800 release it is time to buy. Very attractive prices LOL A very good cam to own:bsmilie:

New models will be gone by that time, if there ever is going to be an 800 anyway. Most likely 730 or 750.

i heard from shop owners. they say its gonna be a850

Heard the same from a well-known shop in the north of Singapore. That why they are not keeping stock for the A700 anymore.

wow, must buy again.But very happy leh .:thumbsup:Good cam go with happy owner......:sweatsm:Who joinning me...Ya

Shop-owner rumours .. they are more likely desperate for sales and try to get you enthusiastic for something which is just a guessing game. 850? Strange to release one camera in a whole new series, innit?

In the meantime the A700 is 'end of production' as mentioned on the official Sony Japan website. At the same time no announcement has been made about a replacement model.

Ah but wait, .. shop owners, of course they know better ... , right ..

Hahahahaha, be happy waiting if lucky july or else september-2010 together with the launch of A 1000:devil:

A1000 :D

I am expecting a more powerful replacement of a700 ---> a7

and a900 ----> a9

Possibly A800 is non-video model or lower resolution...

Shite .. 850 starts appearing in Sony menu's. Well, so did the 500/550 and still no specs for them as well. Regarding the number, there is a 800 walkman I believe, that might be the reason not to use the number.

Let the speculations begin ... if it's video incorporated, I'm out of here anyway. If it is a reasonable 15 Mp fullframe I go for it. Despite the recent purchase of the 700

No spec leaked yet, you still can keep up your hope. But I think it's quite highly unlikely for Sony to make a low-res FF sensor. New sensor = new RnD cost, it doesnt make much sense for them to go for lower-res. Remember even at 24mp, the pixel density is merely the same as 12mp aps-c. If the A850 is to be FF (which is again, highly unlikely), it'll use current A900 sensor.
