Though I don't think it's APS-C sized this time round...who knows it may actually be on the drawing board this moment?

They might try to make a two-tier line... like DX & FX line of bodies?

their sensor is in between hi end P&S and m4/3

knowing already what the hi end P&S can do i'm sure the bigger sensor can do better
and i will only need 3 lenses, a nice WA, macro and short tele

say 24mm, 60mm and 85mm field of view

Coming from one who has a GF1, its pretty compact to be chucked into any remaining slot of any non-camera bag or slung on the shoulder for a whole day and certainly good enough to grip, esp. as its smaller and lighter.

I get what you mean.
Just a difference of perception I guess.
I find even the D3100/D5100 too uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time. And my idea of a 'compact' camera is something like S90/S95 size, where I can chuck it into my pocket, not a corner of my camera bag. Coz if I'm bringing my camera bag (with DSLR inside) anyway, I wouldn't even think of the compact cam ;)

I wouldn't. I'm spoilt by DSLR's grip :p

Plus a uwa of 8mm
If they can make some sort of pancake lens or small size lens of these. It will be perfect.

If 8mm but crop factor is >2.... also BORING ;)

There was an article in today's Digital Life section about Nikon mirrorless offering. But mainly speculative from the looks of it.

it is on now, see live coverage on facebook page

It's a good news for Olympus / Panasonic...no direct competition from a big brand on their mirrrorless cam..

2.7x crop factor. (based on the 35mm equivalent focal length of the lenses)
Looks like the Samsung NX100 series

Prime is a bit slow compared to m4/3 with the 10mm f2.8.

1 Nikkor VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 (35mm frame equivalent: 27-81mm)
1 Nikkor VR 30-110mm f/3.8-5.6 (35mm frame equivalent: 81-297mm)
1 Nikkor 10mm f/2.8 (35mm frame equivalent: 27mm)
1 Nikkor VR 10-100mm f/4.5-5.6 (35mm frame equivalent: 27-270mm) power zoom

since 2.7x crop, can i say it has smaller sensor than those from olympus and panasonic m43

2x smaller to be exact.

according to my knowledge, the smaller the x factor, the bigger the sensor size.

FF has bigger sensor size than Canon 1.3x
Canon 1.3x has bigger sensor size than Nikon 1.5x
Nikon 1.5x has biggger sensor size than Canon 1.6x
Canon 1.6x has bigger seonsor size than m43 2.0x

so rightfully a m43 2.0x should have a bigger sensor size than a Nikon 2.7x crop.

With the F mount adapter, I can mount my 150-500mm siggy then 1.4 TC and get 1,890mm! Whoppie!

But the body is light and the lens is heavy so will it be a bit unbalanced ?

Such lenses and at that zoom distance, you need to tripod it anyway.
