Who is buying the new EOS 550D?

As it has been out for MONTHS elsewhere I'm hoping this will not be an issue.

Totally agree with the concept though - "Never buy version one of anything".

I think the 550D came out in USA and Europe around the end of February. Where was it available MONTHS ago?

i prefer the 50D with the small display for the ISO and others..

but 550D doesnt get it...and 550D is small...

somemore..50D is quite nice also..

yes, if u are a man and u dunnid the compact size for mobility purposes...the 50D wld do u lots of good. its made for ppl like us who loves to take photos, but nothing specific in general. for serious amateurs. 50D can take on almost anything.

Oh my, you make me and the other male 500D users sound like ‘not man’. LOL. I chose to forgo the 50D and higher in favour of better lens. Shrugs. Will just wait for the 60D to upgrade. Nothing wrong with either of our choices. 50D, 500D 550D all competent models. I did think the 50D grip is nice too. I thought the D90’s is even better but that’s another story.

omg no la. but u want it for the mobility its good. i want mobility, i regret not choosing 500D. but its too late. and i got the 50D and had no money for better lens...had to save damn long. d90? nah not me. and i said MAN, because the grip of the xxxD is kinda small for guys. so naturally a bigger grip wld be more comfortable.

I do concede I like the grip of the xxD series more than the 500D, significantly more infact. But now I won’t complain because I’m just shooting a HD documentary for my project, and the 500D’s vid features came in handy. Looks like I’ll have to wait til 60D to upgrade then

I decided to buy 550D and the grip...reason?econimization~

summore..if buy together with grip..it will be better..

before..i think that..7D..the steel body will be nice..i know..it is really nice...

and the speed...fast enough...but..how about the price?7D is even 2X higher thn 550D...

but the result are sames~

So...just choose 550D as the beginner DSLR for myself..and save money~^^

the money we save can buy for tripod + flash + hood+ lens + a lot~

my nxt camera body may just be a xxxD for budget reasons. i like the size, i dun need the build. ergonomics wise xxxD is good enuff for me. but if i use L lenses...den...can't. but i was thinking just now: yes i wanna go FF, i want to use L lenses...but for what? hmm, from an economically-correct stand point its a bad investment because i'm not a pro. and i'd rather my money go elsewhere in my life which will improve my life elsewhere. and besides, my main point of taking up photography is simply capturing memories. so...i dunno, perhaps i will always be on the crop til i'm older, longer into my career and financially stable? and that won't be anytime within the next 7 years. so...i guess i gotta be realistic. xxxD will suffice for most people especially prosumers. but its our ego and desires that make us want more.

i agree. but i haf to say results may be the same only if the subject isn't moving fast...and towards you.

side track.. a "professional photographer" lady won a 550D during a lucky draw held in raffles hotel yesterday, twas a canon seminar for ladies i believe.. when asked " so how do u feel being the FIRST person/Women in Singapore to own a 550D? " , she answered .. " actually im already a professional photographer.. " thats all she said, took some pics and walked off.. lol -

I can’t help feeling someone else would probably put the 550D into better use. Who knows, the 550D may yet end up on the BnS

I think they factor in Price/Performance ratio and practical usage. most will find 17-40 reach quite short
