If the 550D price above $1469 kit 1 (500D kit 1 launch price), I think I will just take my bet on 2000D (1000D is near 2 years old and more Digic III compacts are phrasing out).

Else, Digic V 600D.

wah. this kind of price! definitely not worth it for 500d owners... u sell your 500d and u lost a few hundreds, and then you have to come out another few hundred more to cover the difference between the 500d price and 550 price, which is about 300 plus. total lost = 500-600...

i think it seems more worth it for me to keep my 500...

ya..if you intend to upgrade, must as well pay a bit more for 7D, once and for all, get a better system and save the hassle of constant upgrading from XXXD series...think 600D will be out soon...lol

IMHO, the 500d to 550D is definately nt a worthy upgrade.

If u can , might as well go for the next higher category.

Enjoy ur 500D now and when ur ready, get a better camera !

yeah its definitely not worth it upgrading from 500 to 550 unless money isn't even a deciding factor. i'm sticking to my 50D. too many posers out there with the xxxD bodies...and i dun wanna be associated with them. i dun mean u guys...i mean those skateboarders, kids, ppl who anyhow spam or use dslrs to camwhore because its cool etc ya know? yah...those punks.

who are they? i hardly bother with other photographers with whatever equipment they use unless there is an action that interests me. otherwise, i see little value about concerning myself with others; i'm doing my own photography and their absence or presence does not influence me.

:thumbsup: In fact, if one really want a good quality image and no need for video recording, I will recommend 450D anytime over 550D or 500D. I still feel 450D take the best quality among the three.
