Just tell you on my recent trip to Sipadan, I'm diving with 3 cameras (Nikonos V, III & Cannon S40 digital) & I felt good. The thing is you have to be comfortable in the water & just don't think of anything worse happening to you but just be alert & importantly know your own diving profile. I think you need lots of diving as practise to get yourself closer to the underwater nature but as for now stay off Sipadan as sharks are everywhere & diver like you will definitely feel insecured. Sorry?

Wow. you dive with sharks. I like that. show me some photos man.

cheers

Tagore, you should not be a liability to others, but an asset instead.

If you can't dive without having all those negative thoughts in you, you should stop diving until you can get a grip of yourself.

Dont dive with me :)
So far I have only seen one person worst.
He sucked at a martini + volka concoction, puts on his gear and dived. he went in after me and was the first few to go down, which he did a nose dive. You know superman? Did not stop or anything, he went straight down. I thought he got super lungs.

I am just ordinary. I led the entire group to inspect a shipwreck, leaving the instructor filming the seafloor by himself which then he panicked to have lost the entire group.

uh, problem is... in diving, there's not much headroom to gabra and panic, when contingencies occur, one must be able to remain level headed, and assess the situation.

remember, we don't swim/dive with gills.

hehe,, thanks,, took me ages to find the end of the list

I guess for underwaterphotography, you need to be real comfortable with your diving already. so it doesnt bother you and you can focus on taking the shots.

one more time before I call it OT ... practise is always important for whatever thing you do. Practice brings Familiarity, Familiarity brings Expertise.

You are not born with a camera fixed on you as well.

pretty much so, but at the same time you would also preferably be familiar with your camera, and basic photography to some extent.

thats is why we have pre-dive briefing, and training to certified the divers.

we should pay special attention to divers who are not as comfortable rather then to tell them to give up diving. they are those who should dive more often and get USED to the underwater situation rather then to stay dry and totally give up the sport.

it takes effort to get better bouyancy and do underwater photography, no one is born a pro :) so if you put in effort, we can help you, but if you insist you cannot, then there's nothing much we can do.

couldnt agree more.

haha. I hope I did not stirred too much reaction. I am a comfortable diver. really.hahahah. i was try to practice my english. you know. write a novel. Apologize for causing too much panic :>

that time during our UWCS dive trip to tioman in march, i had practically forgotten everything, like the BCD-Weights-Air-Releases-GO protocol... i was told initially not to voice out my concerns, in case everyone suffered because of my "incompetence". instead, i chose to voice my concerns, and requested to have a revision from waisj, nightshades, and kng - that greatly helped me to get ready for safe and good diving over the two days.

was that a case of attempted cover-up by the person who suggested that i not voice it out, or helpful fellow divers? you decide. i then decided that i just had to revise on my rusty skills that weren't used for already 10 months, and i thought i made a good call.

the killer.. self esteem and peer pressure..

never hestiate to ask. we should always ask when in doubt
