my friends also saw quite a bit. one group saw eagle ray. my first leisure trip there only the last dive was good.. saw very very very big puffer fish and had this big bumphead parrotfish swim right next to me ... hope can see a lot more this time.

well, definitely turtle house dive is better, not to mention the shark point dive site(if i remember clearly), dive till 36m then search for sharks under rocks.

ok, been busy lately, but was reading through the another forum,

guess what... :sweat:


Some of the guys owning C5050z housing, the PT-015 have leaked. The older batches have a problem with the shaft of the dial mode's seal.

The sticking problem was caused by corrosion on the inner shaft and perhaps dryness of the inner shaft "o" ring.

You can get to this "o" ring by removing the screw at the end of the shaft. Once there you can clean the shaft and the shaft housing with something that will remove the corrosion. Vinegar followed by a fresh water rinse should do the trick plus maybe a little wiping with a soft, lint free cloth.

As for the "o" ring itself, it is really tiny and in my opinion too loose to make a good seal. Staying with the design about all you can do is inspect it for wear and lubricate it with a little silicone grease. Replacing it is easy if you have one of the exact size and hardness. In fact a slightly different "o" ring with a smaller inner diameter but with the same outer diameter might make a better seal. Then again it might not.

In my case I settled for a thorough cleaning and lubrication with silicone grease. This solved the sticking problem until about 20 dives latter when the housing flooded.

To this day I continue to believe that the inner shaft "o" ring itself is too loose to make a good seal and that this is the Achilles Heel of the PT - 015 housing. However, it's also possible that Olympus came to the same conclusion and fixed this problem so that latter housings do not have this problem.

And from my experience, a "few drops of water" or "a little corrosion" should never be ignored. These are serious warning signs that indicate a need for repair or maintenance before taking the equipment into the water again.


For me, I will be taking my housing to check, on my last trip, the insides of my housing feels a little damp, the silicon bag is moisted. I been wating to check it out, and hopefully soon before I leave for my next dive trip.

belived,

it's very common for moisture to build in the casing underwater. it's due to the operations of the digi cam that build up the heat inside the housing. so when the temperature outside is much cooler than inside, the condensation start to form & casue small water droplets in housing.

it's mainly due to handling when installing the cam into housing.

1299 u can get a C5060 already ....... underwater casing about 300 .... No point hire purchase, if can, pay outright.

C5050 bright f1.8 ..... maybe me also getting, when the monsoon session over, price should be cheaper then
