back guys, more updates later.
No prizes for me, both me and nightshades share the 5th position out of ard 23 competitors of our catergory. We had 34 points out of the max 45 points.

We are just after Toasty who was 4th position. Only the 1st 4 places get prices. :bheart: He has got 35/45 pts. He got himself an olympus printer, oh well, better then nothing.

Congrats Toasty, good try. Really really close fight. :)

The winner, who else, my cousin... 36/45 pts.
But  for him. They publishing the article in next issue of Scuba Diving magazine.

Later, got to unpack first. Will try to post some pics up later tomorrow.

Yah, was a nice trip, I got some good photos, but not good enough to sway the judges. I have trouble posting pics, I understand that I need to find another site to get the pics on the web, and then link that picture from clubsnap. I've tried posting my pics on photos.yahoo.com and linking them here from CS, but somehow that doesn't work. Anybody can help?

I also have Kenneth's photos on my computer, and can post them if he is willing. (kenneth76 is lanxx's cousin who won the competition and my dive buddy. got himself a new 5050 plus housing).

BTW lanxx I didn't know the points for each participant. So how many points were obtained by those guys who got 2nd and 3rd place? There is no room between 35 and 36 for them to score?

Toasty, how about www.fotki.com?

I saw the points, coz Matt(the judge) showed us. The race was actually between toasty, me, my cousin, nightshades(desmond), Gary and David. We were on par according to him, so he had to be very strigent on our photos, in the end to pick winners. Toasty, Gary and David, all had 35 points each, so, that's why Matt created a 4th place(special mentioned) price for you Toasty. Your pics are also just too nice to be not awarded ;)

The remaining competitors, from what I have remembered are a little more distanced. 31 or 30 points.

As I had said, it was a close fight, someone had to come out on top, and some have to come empty-handed. That's life... :(

Nice... any photos of your cousin's? THe winner?

congrats to you guys.....There is always an element of subjectivity when it comes to opinions. What's 4th in one tournament could be first in another.

Lanxx, your cousin is already putting his prize on sale, but at $1260, a bit high for me lah, with CPF cut and all......

wanna sell at $800? hahahahahaha

Or $400 and I give u my C3040 and Pt-005 as well.

WAHH... fantastic! Damn pro siah!

I know some pple think that clownfish are over-photographed, but i really like pix 13. :) The 2 clownfish peeping out make a perfect composition! pix 8 is also v nice- is that a blue jellyfish? Looks as if it is glowing! hee! For yr submitted photos, I like 32 best - v different and interesting composition - a bit surrealist and moody!

Great set of photos and maybe you shld really turn PRO!! :D

Err... toasty and nightshades, we are waiting for yr photos!!

I've posted my photos on another web-site I'll try linking them here, was successful in the testing area.

The pics are all taken with a olympus 3040, only the 5 photos which I submitted for the competition are here.

Nightshade got one really great photo of 2 trigger fish. I thought that one would win something significant

Toasty,

Very nice photos. Did u use a strobe? Or two? Which strobes are these?

nice pics. Love the moray. Like that only get fourth? Standard must be really high.

Kthan, never chose the pic coz the lighting not even, minus pts like that. :embrass:

Toasty, You have nice pics, they look much better then on the stupid 'foot-printed' projection screen

Kthan, exactly my thoughts... 'heng' I never join, otherwise prob last place! heehee :D

Toasty, Love the yellow moray too - great timing with its jaws open.

toasty, are the clownfish tending to their eggs?

if u can zoom in on that and compose the pic, I'm sure that is a winning shot!

Thanks for all the compliments. kthan, I don't know if the clownfish were tending their eggs (you are referring to the orange patch they are both "looking at"?) Do clownfish eggs look like that? To me at that time, they looked like a parent and a baby clown fish, I just happened to snap them at that moment in that pose.

The first clown fish and the conch shell were shot on the night dive, (you should have come on the night dive lanxx! Kenneth's lion fish shot was also taken on the night dive) The conch was hunting, you could see him probing around with a kind of feeler that you can't see in that photo, looking for some fish to inject and start digesting from the inside. Dangerous creatures...

scotsman, these pics I had 1 strobe, the sea and sea YS90DX, the second strobe (SB-105) didn't work out so well for me, I was letting my gf use the other YS90DX on this trip.

Once again, really inspiraring shots... inspiraring me to go get a Sea and Sea Strobe. Still undecided between the Auto or DX version.

Toasty: need to ask tips from you on how to use the strobe. :)

By the way did u guys realise that the Tioman photo competition is cancelled? I just saw it on finsonline.com
