ya thats what i think too. maybe he did multilevel but only remembered the 30m part, haha.. thats what i think la. still think not very possible to do 30m for one hour.. 70min at 12-15 min i was only left with 40bar then. not a very low air consumer then, but still.. my deep dive this time 31m for 30min-35min or so actual bottom time excluding safety stop i left 90bar.... one hour? bu hui ba.

and he didnt mention safety stop at all...

Errr.. no way you can stay at 30m for even 0.5hr - it's not a matter of air consumption or enough air or not, but being seriously in decomp time as Waisj pointed out. I think at 30m, you get only about 9-12 min bottom time on yr computer, so if you stay 0.5hr, i suspect that one may not have enough air for decomp.

hmm.. got leh did decomp.. but my tank was down to like below 10bar. almost dried out. later i go back i check dive log.

only decomp that left an impression was when we went wreak diving.. 40m dive for around 20mins did a 10mins decomp watching the rubbish float by...

about the 30m 1 hour, wa, raised such controversy! hahaha.. ya, thats what i think too, even if you have enough air you shouldnt do that lo ....

anyway ... for mine, it was half hour la. anyway we didnt sink down to 31m straight away. gradual from 20 plus to 31m. and we did two to three levels safety stops. one thing i like about splashscuba is this lo. and i am glad they did, cos made me realise now i can stop wherever i want without floating up and can control much easily. so happy ... though it is a small thing to experienced divers here la ^_^

he decided to surface and told me to stay as he didn't want to take the risk. anyway the boat was following us nearby.

Er, if your buddy's air consumption is normal, then it doesn't sounds like you are at 30m for that long. I think you'll need to have about 200 bar by the time he is at 50 to achieve that stunt. Anyway, even if air aren't a problem, dissolve nitrogen levels will be.......

Same as me when I go deep.
So not surprise at all, if no currents, 30m for 1hr dun think should be much of a problem at it. The technique is to time your breadth (must use a good reg to achieve that), slow and deliberate actions, no currents. Slow movements and relax your mind will lower your heart rate and thus your need to breathe more air. With all these factors, you can do it safely with ample air for safety stops.

But most likely your dive com will scream or start locking you out (esp suunto coms). Well, unless necessary or you love to take risks , then best not to do it (unless you have DAN insurance)

Beivied, I pay for the weekend trip like everyone else. When I want to do beach dives, I just ask for tanks. No need to pay extra.

whats delrin spool?

A spool is known to you as a reel, except the spool has no mechanism to reel
in the line, you have to manually coil it back by hand.
delrin is the material made from it, if I rem.

Usually in tech, delrin spool is a finger spool, used as line extention for wreck and cave exploration attached to the main reel, also can be used for deploying liftbags or sausages.

It is much smaller and more compact then the normal reels you see. Not cheap easily > $80. I got mine at a discount, think $60-70 (cannot rem)

you can just pick up a tank and jump in. i don't think anyone will stop you.
anyway nowdays gerald hardly goes on to the island.. vynx is always there

I am sure he meant 30m (max depth) not constant depth for 1 hr. Unless he is doing a dive at a reef or sea mount at 30m out in the deep blue?

Usually 30m for 1 hr, is usually at a wreck for w.malaysia region.
