I haven't got a chance to try both lenses. Any difference, in terms of picture quality, between these 2 lenses?

I've tried 24-70mm with 5D and 400D,
the pictures are great, the 24-105 couldn't match all the best from 24-70mm

If I were you, I will choose 24-70mm for sure

 :)
IS ain't gonna help either.... things do happen quite quickly at such events.

I agree with this,
especially for wide, all you need is speed, means light (flash, available lights), ISO and aperture

I don't think you need a bigger aperture for wedding photography
because you already equipped an external flash, besides, lighter is 1 thing,
because you had to carry it all day, we're talking about stamina in here ;p

longer 105 mm and the bigger aperture, that would be solved if you equipped
with another body and 70-200mm f:2.8L IS ;p
tongki, pardon me, but your posts are rather confused. One moment you think a bigger aperture is not needed, then in the next post you say you would choose the 24-70 for sure.

You say lighter gear for stamina then straight away contradict yourself by equipping with another body and with a 70-200mm and the f2.8 IS no less?! Really scratch head at what you are suggesting.

Putting your two posts one after another, seems you are shooting yourself in the foot. I am puzzled by your postings too.

EF24-70 the first choice for wedding. at 24mm it's quite enough to cover most dinner table shots.

no worries with distortion when shooting. but i do see one can get creative or good abstract shoots with 17-40 at FF.

24mm on FF is very wide already.. i tested it already.. 17mm would be too wide for me to use.. =D

i think the wide angle of 16 or 17mm would create an interesting perspective.

abit off topic, would it be wide enough for those club event shoots? tried with my 24-105, found myself using the 24-35 end most of the night. i'm using a 5d.

was thinking of picking up a 16-35 for that.

16-35 would be a good lens...

but with 5D. the distortion is very obvious thou..... how about 28-70 ??

Well done:thumbsup:==>(as in Blue, the Underlined especially)==>your $$ will be well spent/worth it(EF-16-35f2.8-L-II:heart:) coz you've found:thumbsup: your "most commonly used"-focal-range during club shoots.;) I'd say(based on if budget allowed) go for it:cool:

Well, sorry for the 2 "continuous mode" post in this thread,
I forgot change it to "single shot" mode ... ;p

on a FF body, i find 24mm would be too wide at times, have to zoom in further..
