If you're going to/currently using a FF, say 5D body, please cast your vote and see which lens will you use for wedding. Thanks.

Actually I would need two of the four choices at minimum. One WA for gatecrashing/tea ceremony, and another more standard walkabout.

Thanks for your comments. The requirement is just 1 (one) lens to choose from, not what you'll need. Please choose your most needed lens if you are using the 5D.

:bsmilie: good point

the 24-70 2.8L wihtout a doubt.

Just attended a wedding last Sat. Brought 3 lenses, 24 - 70 mm f2.8, 24 -105 f4 and a 17 - 35 mm f2.8 to use on a 5D. The 24 - 70 never left my body. Maybe I was too lazy to change lenses but I didn't have the need to do so.

i use a 5D for weddings. My 24-70 covers most of the day, but it is insufficient for the entire day. The 16-35 and 135/2 gets about equal action.

If for some reason i would be restricted to just one lens, i would pick the 24-105.

I would choose 16-35 and 24-70.. ample field of view coverage plus the f/2.8 is for the 24-70 would create very good bokeh.. :)

i don't have a 5D, but i found myself using the equivalent of the 24-70mm when i was shooting my cousin's wedding.. and the f/2.8 is really useful.. the main photographer was using a 24-105mm though..

i wouldn't use a wide angle coz i don't think many people will appreciate the perspective, esp when the distortion sets in... and sometimes u really need the reach when u can't get too close..

One lens to cover all, the 24-105mm f4L IS. For the range it covers, it is ideal for walkaround and general purpose shooting. Thought ideally a set of 2-3 lenses would be ideal as some of the posters had suggested above. For me the 24-105 plus a fast prime to capture candids would be the ideal combo for a FF camera.

Again, please refer to the initial question....1 lens, not 2, or what you need. Thanks.

1 lens definitely goes to 24-105  for FF, 24mm is just right. 16-35 for FF is too wide and creates too much distortion IMO. 105mm allows to reach further. Longer reach vs bigger aperture, I choose the latter cos' I always use flash with M (f5.6, 1/60, iso400). My last wedding coverage, I use 24-105 throughout with 30D. It is abit long for me during the tea pouring ceremony which allows videographer to cut in. If I have a FF, it will be just right (or I would say perfect)

May I ask why not the 24-105 f/4 IS? Is it because of the extra 2 stops?

f/2.8 to f/4 is only one stop of light loss, not two.

i would need 2 of them~~ heeh.. however, my best choice would the 24-70mm wif the f/2.8 is an advantage.. :)

my take. 24-70... its a good range for weddings on the 5D thou.....

i'd go for the 24-105 f/4. But if the wedding was to be at night, then the 24-70 f/2.8 for me :)

Too late. Already humtum. :nono: Criteria clearly stated, but still want to go ahead and go your own way...what to do?

Anyway, I realised I haven't given my choice.

24-105L

In the ideal situation, I'd have 50mm f/1.4 and a 85mm f/1.8 as well as a 17-40L.
