I'm an event shooter who uses the 5D/24-105 for virtually everything. Proper use of the flash will take you a long way, and besides, IS can be put to creative use as well. One stop is not a whole lot of difference, I find. I usually take just one lens to an event because there's no time to switch, and this is my favorite combo.

Yes, agreed(as in ____, ya where got time, that's y uses 2-body at times=lei-chey), me too;) :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:combo indeed:heart:

Then you put the magnificent 70-200 on a 2nd body like a 30D or 1D, never mind the crop because you are still covered all the way from 24mm to 320mm :)

(assuming 30D, 70-200 has an effective FOV of 98-320, which overlaps perfectly with 24-105 on 5D)

i think a single lens, 24-70/ 24-105 are good choices. For two lens version, additional 17-40/16-35 would be good. Or a 70-200 if you are into close-up portraiture or non-intrusive capture of "the moment" from a distance.

That is why 24-105 is sold as a kit lens with 5D :)...I miss my 5D, but I hate the slow frame rate! *sigh* why can't we have 5D at 8fps!

And the purpose of this poll being?

Because the mirror may fly out and damage the lens attached to the 5D? :bsmilie:

Then give pellicle mirror lah... like 1NRs. 10 fps no loud "clack clack clack" mabbe can live view and af at the same time too. ;p

haha.. when i go to sleep, den can see that 5D appear +D

Can we please get back on topic?

thanks Calebk for always popping to reminding ppl to get back into topics. :rbounce:

i personally use a 5d and the 24-105 and i've found it the best combo thus far for all-round coverage. at high iso the 5d should be able to compensate for the f4.

just my 2cts.

for nite photography, i use iso 1600. Noise is still reasonable..

Yes, that's what I or many(maybe) would agree on this;), plus 'IS'=:kiss::heart:
(if let's put f2.8=DOF aside 1st at this point)

Great choice there :bsmilie:
IS, longer 105mm and lighter.. vs bigger aperture

I don't think you need a bigger aperture for wedding photography
because you already equipped an external flash, besides, lighter is 1 thing,
because you had to carry it all day, we're talking about stamina in here ;p

longer 105 mm and the bigger aperture, that would be solved if you equipped
with another body and 70-200mm f:2.8L IS ;p
