bot a Lowepro bag for my compact PnS from Cathay Photos Peninsular ...
served by a lady ...
very very impressed with her level of service considering the bags i was looking at were all not more than $20 ...
end up buying one that is about $12 ...
service was top notch !
this is the kind of salesperson you know no matter how much you spent that you will walk out of the shop with a smile on your face :)

Yeah, unfortunately that lady will never ever give discounts on items

hi guys!
is aik seng photo trustable? cos i was quoted a better price for d90 body than lords

Another Vote for MS . :), good price + service

Called alan photo to enquire about stock and price....ended up getting a cold shoulder from the salesperson.
Think I won't be buying anything from them anytime sooner....

Personally I have bought items from CP, John 3:16, TK Foto. Service wise, John:16 is the best in terms of friendliness and service HOWEVER, may not always have stock on hand, limited payment methods. TK Foto was friendly and helpful when I purchased my Think Tank bag and necessaries from them. However, CP is still my main store as they have most of what I need and I can always count on Andrew or Florence there. Credit Card Installment scheme at CP helps alot....makes you over spend :) !! Haha.

Worst one is Alan Photo, no matter how low their prices! I'd rather pay more elsewhere than pass a dime to them! Bad service and attitude from most of their stuff and i'm no cheapo!

John 3:16 and MS Color are my preferred choice! Personal experience - Got my 400D from MS and current 40D from John 3:16. :)

John316, but try to come on weekdays to avoid the crowd

I only deal with Brian if I have to go to APSL

Just my five cents, went to Parisilk today to get my KATA bag. Was quoted $110 for the model I was looking for before i went down. When i reached there, this particular salesperson told me $138 for the same model and when I said, I spoke to one of their staff, Kevin, earlier and he quoted me $110. This salesperson immediately told me, that it was before GST. And I told him, I confirmed that the bag was after GST. He checked with Kevin and in the end, I got the bag at that price.

Perhaps there is some misunderstanding here but what pissed me off was his disinterested attitude in serving me after he confirmed the price with Kevin. I even had to request for a carrier when I was about to leave the shop.

$110 + GST 7% = $117.70

Where did he get the extra $20? :dunno:

Went to Bally photos and was quote $130 for Lowepro Stealth Reporter 400, not a bad deal as other shops quoted me $140 for stealth reporter 300....

service not bad from the counter salesperson, but there was another guy... not nice at all...
got the bag from the counter guy in the end... do you guys think it was a good deal?

Agreed, Florence at CP is really good!

i have bought cameras from John 3:16, Cathay, MS.

Service @ the above 3 are pretty decent.

Last month wanted to get 5D Mark II. my friend ask me to contact V******* from Allan. So i called and was told that the camera model is not available. cause of pc show. ask my contact number and say will contact me

check again in 1 week. 1 week i call, he say no stock from canon yet. say he lost misplace my contact. will call me in couple of days to update me.

i was like who he wants to bluff, as a check with the above 3 shops all got stock.

anyway filled up and online price quote request from MS and got a reply. say got stock. went down next day got the camera.

till today, still no news from the sales staff from Allan photo.

i wow never to buy camera & accessories from allan photo again.

service is bad. attitude is bad.

I've bought stuffs from john316, cp and alan photo. I would say service wise john and cp are on par. Mostly of the items are purchased from cp as john316 is oways so crowded, at cp i can just walk in, ask, check, buy. :D

Just went to orient photo at sim lim square to buy a bag, meet the short hair guy, looks like china guy. I look at the bag for like 5 minits and he just stand there, until i ask how much is that bag. then he just said HAH WHAT??.. then i must repeat again. then he said in chinese, cuz im indonesian i said how much is that, then he said 135 dollar for lowerpro bag. he still stand there without asking me what you need. then i ask this one can put tripod or not. then he again said hah what?? i was like what kind of sales guy is he. The face is look like ****, then i said never mind then i go. Such a bad attitude. from Orient Photo

Different strokes for different folks. I would rather the sales not bother me and let me try things out myself rather than listening to their sales pitch.

They are not ignoring you, just the style of the shop. Obviously, OP is not for you. Go somewhere else to spend your money.

The slightly bigger-sized person at OP is very helpful if you bother to ask for assistance. Other than that, they'll just let you browse at your own will even if the shop is empty.
