do MS Color and Alan Photos accept payments via VISA without passing on the 'processing fee' to the customer ?

No. The most they only accept NETS without additional charges.

To me it goes down to a few options, but eventually I give my final vote to MS. I am not frequently shop for equipment but somehow I bought a few stuff from them.

TK, always give a slightly cheaper price then MS, (MS already quite cheap on certain item, not all items), but service is just acceptable.

Parasilk HV, the price (of certain item) is sometimes comparable to TK, but it sometimes varied with different sales person. And they got slightly attitude, also depends on different sales person.

So many people vote to John 3:16.
Price and customer service must be separated.

I can say that their service is good.
But their price is one of the most expensive

I and John 3:16 have same religion. But business is business.
Just do your homework before shopping and find the best merchant ;)

well..
i'm happy with MS..
haha..
but the price is also a bit higher than some of the shops..

Had a pleasant experience yesterday at CP Marina.
Went in to look around for tripods, not intending to buy first, just browsing.
Then this sales person (Patrick) came over to chat with me and explain to me some of the tripods and how to operate.
Btw, i bought my Tamron 17-50 from him in March.
Not only did he remember i bought the Tamron, he even remember my wife's occupation.
I'm pretty impressed, half a year without going back CP and he still remembers.

Yeah true... love their service... so whenever I want to buy something that is not too expensive I go there... but If something expensive, I go to the best shop I can find (starting to call in the morning, and go in the evening to buy).

your wife is chio bu is it :bsmilie:
either that ...
or your wife occupation is uncommon (talking point) or her looks doesnt fit her occupation ...

but yeah, the level of service sounds above SG's (lacking level of service) average ...

Haha, the main point is the photography equipment.
I was asking him can the tripod support the weight of my setup.
And he was saying, "Oh, with the Tamron 17-50 you bought the other time?"
I was like, "That was almost 6 months ago and you still can remember?".

Kudos to Patrick for being such a attentive sales person. :)

Sam of John 3:16 has an even more solid memory lol. When I went to get a cleaning kit about 8 months after purchasing my camera from them, the first question he asked was "How's the 50D?":bsmilie:

Most important is to know what we want, know the product and price before buying. I always recommend MS colour to friends who don't know much about cameras, for P&S camera. I feel that MS colour and John 3:16 are more honest in doing business. Won't find opportunity to 'chop'.

For AP, got to depend, SLS branch got so many salesman. I bought a camera from them few days ago, ask for price and was quoted $450, package does not come with 2nd battery, if want, need to buy at $20. I understand that at this price, 2nd battery is given as freebie, now there is extra charge. Pay using CC need 2% charge as usual.

When I hear this, tell him I consider and walk out. When I was about to leave, he call me back and ask what price I want. End up getting the package at normal price, $460 with the 2nd battery and pay using CC. Very typical SLS shop...

I believe for AP, quote for tourists will be higher since it's in SLS...

Alan Photo's service is damn poor. They have the rude 'want to buy or not? if dont want nevermind f*** off i got other people want to buy it' face and attitude that is totally unprofessional. However, one plus point to them is that they offer quite competitive prices.

that's the good thing about sam, he remembers your name and your stuff,

but the waiting time is really very long there if it's crowded.

Yeah! Sam remembers the equipment I bought from my student days.. he even tells me what lens my friends bought before my friend told me even though it was a good year or 2 since my limited visit..

Of course, some new walk in customer not used to that level of attention will find the long wait a waste of time..
