From my experience, most of the stores will match the "best street price". Any astute salesman will know that getting some profit is better than getting none. Unless there are other incentives, of course.

J3:16 always tell me 'brother, can't be done'. I guess they might also have other limitations especially if they do not carry stock inherently.

Purchase things from James at CP, price seem to be a high side but once u tell him what other shops will be selling price at, he will match for u, and CP is the only place with the most equipment so u will be spoilt for choices

How much these retailers can match the price depends on how much they paid their stocks on and other costs too.

Note that J3:16 is not an authorized dealer of Canon SG, so they have to get their SG stocks from one of these SG authorized dealers. These authorized dealers would have earned a portion from J3:16, and thus, J3:16's cost is higher already.

Also, bigger dealers get goods from Canon SG at a preferred rate. Dealers like Cathay Photo who have the biggest purchasing power and deal with Canon SG gets their goods the cheapest, and as such, they are usually able to match competitor's price, but subject to the salesman if within his authority, or his supervisor if exceed authority.

You should have retorted back 'hallelujah by the powder of Gosh , it can be done."

I saw on Facebook this "Maxphoto" opening a very nice looking camera store at funan soon, modern and chic like apple stores. But never really hear of Maxphoto before although friend says they are also dealer of all brand like Cathay, and have quite good prices.

Anyone know?

Max photo is a well known cam shop. Google the name.

They have a shop in chinatown and another one in Penisula plaza, opp Cathay, looking like a Apple store.

I never buy anything from them yet. But they are definitely not a fly by night or ah beng shop.

I just got my X-E1 from Click and I am seriously impressed by the service. The pricing was not too shabby either. I contacted them through FB and the price quoted was the same as the cheapest I could find on the forum, when I arrived this morning, Richard was patient, professional and very accommodating, probably the best service I have received from a camera professional in Singapore.

Some of us are tourist, are we not? :p touring for the best dslr gear buys lol

I am Impressed by Click! camera's service. I wonder how will they rank in next year's polls. I personally feel that they will give SLRR and TK a run for their money haha. More competition means better deals for us customers.
