CISS systems are still not stable for some epson printer models, and I would recommend that you use refillable ink cartridges which works like the original. You only have to buy the ink and refill the cartridge yourself once it's empty. I just recently went to SLS inkstation to get the refill ink bottle for my CISS and Inkstation is selling it at $50 onwards for one set of refillable ink cartridges and $10 per 100ml of refill ink bottle. According to the salesman, you can refill up to 10 times, so it's only $1 per refill! And it also comes with a one yr replacement warranty. They told me that they just had an ecommerce website at www.vip.com.sg, so you can save the hassle of going down to SLS just to get a bottle of refill ink. Save carpark and ERP charges too. Haha..

whatever system you use, make sure you install a tube to direct all waste ink to an external bottle. This way, you can save time and money on replacing built-in pad.

Has anyone used compatible for chipped Canon inks - CLI8? I would like to convert my iP6600D as a day-to-day printer and print photos using Pro9000 with original inks...

Just now at SLS I saw the ground floor inkstation booth with a iP4200 their CLI8 inks but both sales guys busy talking to other groups, so no chance to find out how good is it as im in a rush

Yesterday, took my old empty hp carts and got them refilled at my neighbourhood Inke refill shop. Picked them up today coz i could not wait. Came home and the print outs were really decent. Paid$25 to refill one black and one color cart. Good experience for me. Will try them again.

Is it true that the 3rd party ink will jam the nozzle?? Fed my old "brother" and the head was so cloged it was unsavable. 1 year old $500+ all in one, heart pain :bheart: Fed up so bought laser instead, no ink, no mess, no clog, but sadly no photos too.....

Colour laser give pretty nice saturated photos... I have a Fuji Xerox... Quality 3rd party inks will not clog your print head... and u need to print every now and then... I did not print for about 2 months and my print head is ok (Epson R1800 + 3rd party pigment inks)...

I am using DCP 115 Brother printer and use to purchase Nippon-ink refill kit set till now. The printer is already 2 years and still working. The Black ink comes with 3 tubes at $15 per pack and Color with individual tube (CMY) at $19 per pack of 3 different color.

I too bought a brother which was quite a pain so i went back to my old HP and got the old carts in them refilled. So far no problem, now i believe 3rd party inks do not clog your printheads

 Then must be brother design major screwup, did that happen to u too?

Yup, bought a Brother printer and not too satisfied with it. So took out my old Canon and HP printer to use.

Not happy with the brother coz it was streaking.

then here's my personal favs:

For CD printing, I'd suggest Canon specifically i950 (this is what i use) For pictures, a friend of mine swears that Epson is the only choice for printing this type of document. I don't really print much pictures, so there

But for B/W, I use HP970CXi--actually any HP printer would do well for B/W printing. That's why I HP inkjet cartridges for my paperworks. I get my compatible HP printer cartridges at united digital solutions. They offer a variety of ink cartridges from Apple to Canon to Epson to HP and a whole lot more. So with all the printers in our house, obtaining such assortment of ink cartridges under one roof is heaven sent.

All of these printers, I've tried. But my one and only buddy, my most reliable home use printer --- is HP (hands down)

I have recently in need to acquire an all-in-one (scan, copy, print, fax) printer and stumbled upon this interesting thread!

The Continuous Ink Supply System (CIS/CISS) are quite pleasing as I'd mainly use the printer heavily for office work, and occasionally for photo printing. In your opinion which multi-functional printer is the best and which company provides the best CIS? I'd be running to Sim Lim to check out all the CIS suppliers in a day or two, but at the same time if you guys who have done well researched in this area I really wish to hear your opinion.

Thanks.

I was using an EPSON at work sometime back. Had a very bad experience with CISS. The tubes somehow kept dislodging and cracking thus creating a big mess. After rectifying everything, the printhead needed repair but when we sent it back to the shop that we bought the printer from, they told us the warranty was void. Thus no free repair even though the printer was less than a month old.

Hope your experience is better

My printer was bought directly from the CISS provider, so if anything goes wrong they will provide the guarantee. So I thought that was pretty safe.

the CIS system have both good and bad points to me
i print alot and i mean really alot .. esp PDF doc. As I don like to read off the monitor

but sometimes the CIS does cork up ..
the chip on the CIS will die after sometimes . . meaning u got to change the whole system. the bugger from the shop will tell u .. they have no extra chip to change. So u have to trade in for a new system.

I am using the CIS on Epson AOI it means IF u were to trade in for a new system, it will cost me another $50. Warranty for 1 yr if anythings does go wrong.
Is still cheap to me as i had already exhausted few bottles of ink previously.

The real pain in having the CIS is to have your printer bring down to the CIS service center if everything else fail. The AIO printer is huge and i don not have a car. When it fails, it means i will used back my old trusty epson photo stylus 830, leaving my AIO printer not in used for months. Bad thing to do as the ink will jammed up the print head. Cleaning of print head $20

HAving used my epson830 for zillion yrs, i have never even even reset my printer counter before. IF u have no idea wat is tat, let me explain. A printer have a counter if it reach a certain number of prints (i have no idea what number is tat) the printer will fake death. Next u will have to bring the printer back to its service center to do a counter reset. Amount unknown. (was told by CIS pple it cost alot but they only charge $30)

NOW I have reset my AOI printer's counter afew times - tat will means $30 * x . But lucky for me I manage to lay my hands on the software.

Not all printers are suitable for CIS - my AOI is one of them, they never let me know about it. Probably they don even know themselves as I bought the CIS when it was introduce very early. One point I encounter is the CIS still have alot of ink, but the printer properties will show 'no ink'. The solution is to remove the power cable when the printer is switched on. But then it never works for my printer. (the CIS guy knows later when they become more experience) Thus a chip resetter was needed in this case. Problem can be solve easily but at first i did not there was such thing. After using CIS for a long time, I think i can work in CIS company already .. i can clean my printer's ink head / reset my CIS chip and reset my printer counter.

So should u get a CIS? My personal views are:

1)make sure your printer work well with CIS .. I am sure the friendly CIS salesman will give u some opinions
2)when u print lots and lots of .PDF files or .WORDS ONLY .. get the drift?
3)when u have a CAR maybe not cos refer to point (1)
4)i think is better to buy used&throw ink cartridge for point(2) save all the problem on resetting/cleaning and ink spill - Now they come in sponge-less
5)Don think CIS will kill your print head. it will only clogged badly - print regularly or need a good technician to clean for you.

So will i buy CIS again if i buying a new A3 printer?
Answer is NO. Refer to (4) for (2) and used original for photos

I was using a CIS system on my Epson Photo Stylus 1280 printer many, many years ago. After countless problems and Panadols 'headaches', I stopped using all CIS products.

That was my first time and also my last.

I am a "fan" of 3rd party printer inks.

My printers using different ink:

Brother DCP-110C: Nippon Ink- good, no problem. :) But now already disposed that printer.

Epson Cx5500: InkStation- ****/crap/bullshit 3rd party ink! spoil my printer!:thumbsd:
Don't use InkStation. Why? -> China boss of InkStation = China crap = Lousy/Inferior ink!

Canon iP3500: I used the a new company CIS called Ink gallery in SLS level 5. Not bad. Just had it fixed onto my printer yesterday and printed a few photos. Quality at least 80% of the original ink.

Here are the 3rd party inks rankings (according to me and my friends)
1st: Nippon Ink
2nd: Sepoms
3rd: SingInk
4th: Calidad
5th: Maxtec
6th: NineInk, Ink Gallery

****WORST OF ALL: INKSTATION! (china man boss- damn attitude guy)
I don't know whether is their ink contaminated with melamine or soap just like their food products!

When I buy their product, he said if there is any problem, can bring back to him. When I bring back, he said I can throw away my printer.

His stupid box of $70-$100 ink, is a china scam! Use that amount of money to buy orginal, is more worth it. Before using finish the 1st round of the damn ink in the given cartridge, the printer print head may spoil already.

What save the EARTH! Throw away printer? Is this called save the Earth? I think it should be "save his butt"!

You registered just to post this???

i know of someone from inkstation who left the company and setup a new one.. reasone behing he has had enough with the previous company.

we've been patronising Inkstation for years now, had the CIS for years now, on different printers. even me, though im not using CIS , im using the refillable ink cartridge.

if you do wanna compare original ink and 3rd party ink.. if you have the money.. go ahead with original. you cant go wrong with it trust me.

after all this years using 3rd party, you can see the difference in quality. direct printing will have diffewrent colours. using original ink will make the pics look closest to the pic while using 3rd party will make it slightly darker, which you gotta adjust the brightness and contrast. for me, i just up the Curve in PS.
