My dad uses Sepoms paper for A3 prints, looks nice.... Hee...

Or can try Maxtec paper...

Epson papers are getting value for money too. Cheaper nowadays

hum, went to simlim looking for Calidad refills for my cheaper canan printer but seem like all over the building all sold out. Any one got any idea where to find them? For i865 canon.

Dun think Calidad is avail in SLS, try Funan Center...
Or try MAXTEC Ink cartridge.. (Hee.......)

FYI, you would be using a 3EBK or 6BK, and color shall be 6C/M/Y...
The cost shall be
3EBK at $8.50
6BK,C/M/Y is at $8.00

For ClubSnap members, you could procure your items directly from myself at SLS, #03-38 for a dollar lesser per item..

Cheers and regards,
Spurman

add on:
by the way, i using 200 GSM Premium Glossy Photo Paper, is water proof... I not sure is it paper gave waterroof or ink.
Very good quality picture at this time. ( will updated when it start problem)

The waterproofness comes from both the paper and ink properties...

Bought Calidad from Funai Centre 2 floors below the entrance of challenger top floor right inside Funan centre just at escalator. $6/cartridge. even for largr 3eBK. All 6CMY/BK are also at $6/cartridge. Bought whole set from them. Worked OK on my i865 after unclogginng with overnight soak of bleach with hot water. Now works almost100% well.

Found the receipt of the above purchase but keep forgetting to keep it with me. Will post the unit no. in Funan Centre ASAP.

Are you saying you soaked the cartridge in bleach water ? Just the bottom part ? I thought other mentioned was the print head clogged ?

Yes had to soak the head in bleach (not the cartridges). Not the whole head of course. Just the inlets and the bottom should have bleach on it. Just fill the top part where the seals are with bleach and let it soak. Noticed that the level for the red is not the same as the other colours last evening. Have not re-installed yet the CIS system. Will wait a while more for more clearing up to be sure. Also not ready to print yet as new pictures are not yet processed.

Looks OK for now.

To keep the head/inlets soaked/filled with bleach use a small dropper to suck the bleach from the bottom of the container you are soaking in and filling the resevoir with the solution. Minimise the PCBA getting soaked as much as possible although I have had no issues so far with my soaking. Bleach level should not be more than 1cm in the container. Lower should help draw the bleach through the inlets to the nozzle heads.

Will re-install the head by this weekend and share the results. Hopefully not a disaster.

Now I am totally lost on what to buy : inkjet or color laser.

My requirement :
- infrequent color refill and cheap
- good photo quality printout (must it be 9600 to be considered good ?)
- all-in-one
- no maintenance cycle issue
- able to fit CISS
- no clogging of ink (must have a method to avoid clogging)
- don't mind to leave the printer on if the above conditions to be met.

I hate changing cartriges or refill them thru sringes , and thinking using CISS, but hearing so many problem also with CISS. Also another headache is to choose Epson or Canon . Epson also has the head clean and ink wastage and associate wastepad issue. Any Canon common inkjet related problem ?

Color laser (all-in-one) Samsung has only resolution of 2400. Each toner is about $69. Not sure if there are 3rd party toner for Samsung laser. They claimed each toner can use upto 1500 copy.

Check out what I wrote in this thread... it's quite expensive to use a colour laser... consider the cost of the drum...

I knew the issue too about color laser, just confused after hearing from others about inkjet issue also.

Any one who uses inkjet (Epson or Canon) very often for photoprinting , would like to hear your experience , are you more concern over the lifespan/maintenance of the printer or the cost of the ink refill ? If you are more concern with the cost of the ink refill, would you choose the original vs 3rd party refill cartridge vs 3rd party CISS ?

I use an Epson R1800 - clogging is a real issue. Especially if the printer uses pigment inks. Just print every other day. I just print on plain paper lor... still cheaper than having to do head cleaning...

Went to SLS, talked to InkStation and SingInk on InkJet refill, there is no 3rd party ink cartridge for those new series Canon printer, like MP600,MP800,etc, as there is no circuitry available on the 3rd party cartridge. SingInk recommended to use back the original Canon cartridge, but drill a hole on them, and use sringe to refill , which I hate most (like my current epson printer). Now SingInk also have the CISS for the HP6180,HP71xx (AIO).

In term of resolution, Canon highest is 9600, Epson is 5700, HP is 2400 ??? . Does it really mean only 9600 is better in photo realistic print out ? Any comment on this ?

Oh no. I was looking for MP510 3rd party cartridges and got the same conclusion that they are not available (yet). Even taiwan's equivalent of SLS also gave me the same answer. I DON"T WANNA BUY ORIGINAL WHICH ARE SO EXPENSIVE :(

Hey guys, being a proud user of the INKSYSTEM, i have relinqushed my position after meeting several problems wif it. Initially, I was very happy with it, cheap, still manageable in terms of maintaineance and no problems. After a year of usage, it went south. The ink head started clogging up, especially with epson systems where the inkhead is not changed with the ink catridge. Unnecessary ink drainage to check the printing head and leakages.

The system had the tendency to just "evaporate" the ink inside, and within a month, half the ink will be magically gone. And if you dont use it often enough, the inkhead clogs up like one big fat ass.... :nono:

Now, my warranty kinda voided, and expired, so i am just stuck with my epson r230 with the inksystem attached... can print only simple documents and the whole thing is on the verge of total failure...

my recommendation, go find a favourite photo shop, go there develop, and make friends with the owner, he will probably give u a discount or smth.
and if u still want to get a photo printer, get one, in case u need it for urgent prints and please use original inks.

i most likely will not switch back to CISS unless i am i see some improvement in this field.

Oh ya... i 4got to state, the prints from a CIS will not last a month, even in slight indirect sunlight conditions. i rmb talking about this somewhere, but i just repeat agian....

b4 i switched to CIS, i actually printed an A4 photo pix using the original inks and paper, left it on a noticeboard. i got the CIS, printed another A4 photo along with some 4Rs, they didnt last a month and the inks just faded, left mainly the reds... the 1st photo print using the original stuff... didnt see any darn change... but really its expensive to print @ home using originals...

my favourite recommendation, visit the nearby photoshop and get a discount if u have the time of course

CIS is only good for large volume printing. That's when it's value for money. Otherwise, just go with cartridges. I know I do, and they're quite ok.

Oh, which reminds me: If you're willing to sacrifice the gloss and need the prints to be more waterproof, you can always spray them with fixative. Try getting those archival UV protective fixatives. They're typically acid free and won't yellow the prints. I know 'coz my RX510 uses dye inks (dedicated photo printers typically do) and it's terrible when a pretty print gets a drop on the surface for more than a moment.

Yeah, large volume printing, that is if u print documents, i dont recommend 4 photo unless u dont mind giving lousy prints to yr friends. also, the colours dont come out right sometimes and the inkfading thing pisses me off, catridge still rocks

anyways, can some manufacturer make some extra large catridge for the mass consumers... at least we can save cost and they probably will too!

Hey guys,

Maxtec has launched during the last IT fair in End Aug, early Sept, the new CANON PG-5BK, 8BK/c/m/y.

It does not come with the chip, as the chip is patented and impossible to re-design one.

So the end-users have to "slide" out their existing chip from the original cartridge and transfer to the compatible.

It is actually a simple technique, becoz the chip is "cliped" on to the cartridges, so diff for it to fall off.

Currently Maxtec has sold out the 1st batch of cartridges during the IT show, despite the fact that its a new innovative idea. And so far of the 50 odd sets sold, only 1 customer have not figured out how to use yet. Hee... Her chip she claimed slide off easily. However theres a returning customer during the fair who liked it very much, and returned to procure more the next day.

The new stocks, also in small quantities, as I do not intend to get my dealers to sell, as it might take too long for them to explain to customers how to use. Maybe only a few selected ones will sell them.

In the meantime, you guys could go down SLS, level 3, unit 38 to see the product only in the 2nd wk of oct. Hee.

Cheers mate

Inkstation Cis systems are CRAP! Damaged my C60 and STYLUS 895 permanently.
You have been warned. Chinaman boss of Inkstation did not want to hear about it

You created this account just to post this negative comment? How did their systems spoil your printers? I am using R230 and inkstation's CIS and it works perfectly. I use it to print CD labels and it works perfectly alright. Just that the color is prob a little different from the original, but it's as good as it can be at one a fraction of the original's price.
