Once the file is converted from RAW to TIFF, then my choice is Photoshop (CS3). I have not upgraded as I also believe that my hardware will need an upgrade to maintain efficency with CS4.....so not yet.

For RAW files, I have been using Adobe Camera Raw, which is the same engine as Lightroom although LR implements a better user interface.

I experimented with Bibble and I do admit though that the RAW to TIF conversion in Bibble is superior to that of ACR/LR in terms of absolute sharpness. I use a Nikon as my "35mm" DSLR and for colour accuracy, only Nikon NX or the free View NX will convert the NEF file 100% fidelity with the original capture by the CCD. Bibble/ ACR/ LR tends to interpret the colours in the RAW according to their own respective algorithms. This point is important to note if colour fidelity with the original subject is critical eg for product catalogs etc.

This is also true for LEAF .MOS files where LEAF Capture gives "correct" colour conversion but not so with Bibble and ACR/LR. I cannot comment for Canon/ Oly etc as I do not have enuf experience with those files.

previously, i used gimp then switched to photoshop

I use Lightroom2, then Photoshop for further editing.

PS 3 and
NX2

but mostly PS 3

photoshop cs2
photomatix pro (less and less)
ptgui

I use lightroom mostly, but photoshop if i need to do anything else special.

Bibble for raw conversion.
Lightzone for tweaking
Photoshop for noise reduction and sharpening.

Yeah, it takes abit longer but each software has its own strength so might as well use it.

usually use CS4 and now beginning to learn lightroom 2... but my photoshop skill is still in it's infancy; more training needed! :bsmilie:

I've been using Adobe in my line of work and now im also using it for my hobby which is photography.

Adobe Bridge - for organizing my photos
Adobe Camera Raw - for converting and minor manipulations
Adobe Photoshop - for advance editing

Photoshop
GIMP
Silkypix

Photoshop Camera Raw / CS3
Canon DPP
Paint.net

Photoshop CS3
and
Adobe Bridge CS3

..life savers :D

For me, I use Adobe Photoshop mostly to do colour correction.

For some manipulation or special effects, I will use Ulead Photo Impact.

Surprisingly, Ulead Photo Impact seems to be user friendly for some effects which it is fun playing with it.

Hey,

Was wondering how much does Photoshop CS3 or CS4 cost?

Where is the best place to get one?

Please advice...

Thanks...:)
