Which one's thebest?

Hi guys,
Need your wise advise one more time.
If you were to buy the best camera to use handheld for color IR photography, which one would you get? I have 3 cameras, a Canon 10D, an Olympus C750 and a Nikon Coolpix 775. So far the 775 is the only one that allows me to shoot handheld even though I prefer to use a tripod since I'm not that steady with my hands (I guess old age ). I am willing to buy another camera, probably a used one, but I'm not sure which one to get.

I would say get the D70. I use it for all my IR shots handheld (and I'm older than you).

I would say get the D70. I use it for all my IR shots handheld (and I'm older than you).

WOW, would you mind sharing your technique (lens, shutter speed, aperture, etc) with me? I'll try to get the D70 but since all my lenses are Canon I need to save and probably just get one lens.

All shots done with the D70, kit lens, Hoya R72 IR filter on Programmed Mode.

Full manual mode also give good results. Some of the guys here use f/8, f/11 and shutter speed between 1sec to 4sec, depending on the brightness of the sun.

I know of a Canon user who have bought a second hand D70+kit lens just for shooting IR, and another who's waiting for his D70 for the same purpose.

I'm not saying which is a better brand of camera, but just using the right tool for the right job. :bsmilie:

I am starting to look at it this way :.. When I get it, if my results are no better than what I do now,

I can guarantee that results with the D70 will definitely be better than what you have now. Why do I say that? It's the shorter shutter time required by the D70.

Personally, I feel that for you the wireless shutter control is an added advantage. ML-L3 is the remote for the D70, but the older version ML-L1 which was for the D100 works perfectly for the D70 and it's cheaper.

Yes, the D70 definately will give better results due to the ability to take IR with a much much shorter shutter time.

If you remember my question some time back about the "power to stop the wind" :bsmilie:

I will definately be looking into a remote control as you guessed !!!

The worry (a joke actually) is that it may still show I suck at photography :bsmilie: :bsmilie:
