bernards said:If size is not an issue. I'll choose the P10. The IXUS 500 AF is slow, the LCD is terrible, shutterlag can be felt and the menu system will make one go nuts. The size of the IXUS is a pro but weight difference might be marginal. The P10 has got some manual controls which the IXUS does not have. I used to own the P9 as well. (Those days, I choose the P9 over the IXUS while comparing at the shop. The IXUS those days just didn't cut it.) I have not had to chace to compare pics of the IXUS 500 vs P10. But being a previous owner of the P series, frankly it won't lose out to the IXUS.
I wanted to buy an IXUS 500 because of underwater use. But after testing the camera in the shops twice. I still can't bring myself to buy it. After being so used to the clear menu system, great screen and fast response of Sony cameras. The IXUS feels like a torture to use. Of course this is my opinion, the things that bug me might not be a problem for you. Best to test it out then decide.
BTW. Does the IXUS 500 have a histrogram? I was just playing with my friend's IXUS 400 the other day. This feature does not exist? Either that, or it's hidden in the impossible to navigate and understand menu system.

I heard that there will be promotion for Canon IXUS500 during May and there will be freebies.. i will wait for one more week then buy ^^..
ricleo said:Hehe Karyinn, the Fx32 is a sony external flash for the prosumer V1, F828, F717 etc.
Reason for the size of the P93 is the use of AA batteries. Some consumers find AA batteries an advantage as they are easily available, so should the camera run out of juice while on tour, batteries can be purchased with ease.
Hehehe, seems the P100 is the way to go eh? BTW i've read some comments on DPreview STF that the image quality of the P100 (surprisingly) outshines that of the W1.

Anyway for starters, "steve" takes terrible review pics... true he takes pics at similar locations to enabe us to compare pics... however the pics of the differing cameras were clearly taken at completely different timings. From the light intensity and shadow drop, the P10 pics were clearly taken in the hot afternoon sun, while that of the Canon seems to be from later afternoon or evening...
All things being constant, of course the subject will look nicer with better colour in the evening sun compared to being washed out under the noon sun.
2nd thing... the canon may win in colour saturation, but the P10 definitely wins interms of image detail and sharpness.
In any case, these are poor comparisions, and anyone intersted in a purchase should be looking at user galleries instead of this review gallery.
