Which Olympus gear would you prefer? 12-50mm weatherproof lens or 12mm + 45mm primes?

This is very useful.

So for M43, what's the sharpest aperture to use? F5.6?

Yup. Around f/5.6 according to most m4/3 lens tests.

currently i only have the 9-18, 20 and 45.. I'd love to have the 12-50 added to that group. I'd probably also use it for daylight shooting and the casual/occasional macro here and there. Personally, I don't really go into much pixel peeping.. and find the 12-50 shots from Robin Wong sharp enough. For around $400 additional to the body its a good value as an all around above average performer, and I'm thinking I'll be able to use it more than I used my 50-200 before. Just keep in mind its not a 12-60.

Haha, I think it is easier said than done. I will have difficulty not to compare it with my previous Canon 15-85 since the focal range and variable aperture are so similar. In fact I think 24-105L users will also have a tough time not to compare.

I will try to keep in mind that it costs only $400+ (when bought as a kit lens)... :)
