Yes many events are such... Especially when everyone is trying to get to the front to take pictures. You cannot afford to stand at the back. Unless you are damn tall to get a birds eye view...

Since this thread started, the 70-200 2.8 IS was the runaway leader (now at 80). But after several months, the 24-70 has caught up (now at 79) and may even overtake the 70-200. Should have collected bets.

not a surprise as time pass.. 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 has always been the favorite and workhorse of professionals and enthusiasts alike..

I think that the 200-400 lens is revolutionary. As such it will command a premium price. However, as competitors increase in this market and manufacturing prices come down, so will the price. I predict that years from now it will be common to see these types of lens especially in the tele-zoom segment. Who knows, we may even see lenses with both 1.4x AND 2x options! We have even see lenses with built-in filter options... press a switch and turn on the circular polarizing feature!
