I like the 16-35 as it spends the most time with my wife and me, but L range it would be the 300 L

The 24-105 and especially the 70-300!

we need more love for 70-300.. haha

70-200 f2.8 IS mk1 - my favorite lens for portraiture at the wedding dias... some guest must be wondering wth is this photographer doing with telezoom ..as if he is shooting F1!! But they haven't seen the result what this lens can do!!

seems like it's f/2.8 FTW...

The trinity zooms are the usual favourites. The 16-35 received less support though. I actually find them to be a little too heavy.

Seems like alot of ppl love the 70-300mm... may be a lighter lens to carry around then my 100-400mm

Yea, cause is the 2.8 that makes the money worth while. I'm not say F4 isnt good, but is the bokeh of 2.8 that makes your money worthwhile when comparing with F4.

16-35 was priced pretty high as compared to 17-40. The 17-40 comes with weather-seal + internal focus and the IQ was acceptable when stopped down (although my copy was not overly sharp even at f/11). 16-35 is almost 3x more expensive than 17-40 but IQ is comparable at smaller aperture thus not many will opt for 16-35. I personally love the 16-35 much much more.

I have tried both and bagged the 70-300. This lens is seriously sharp even wide open and the IS is very effective. :)

Looks like the 70-300 is the favorite underdog.

In addition the IS is also 4-stops and technology is latest for L zooms.

Mmm.... now abit itchy to maybe trade-in my 100-400mm for the 70-300mm... I don't even have to top up too much for a brand new lens.... But I'll miss the extra 100mm...

Got to be the canon 70-200 f2.8s... especially with IS.

Perfect balance with a 1-series body, IS seldom fails, very sharp (imho sharper than 24-70 which most copies disappoints me).

I chose the 70-300 becos on FF, 200mm is a tad too short. I'm not a tele fan so it's sufficient for me at 300mm focal length.

Before i bought mine, i did consider the 100-400 but some said at the shorter focal length wide open, it's not very sharp and some more the 70-300 is a bit cheaper with better IS and elements.

You should trade it in before Canon releases the Mark II. Canon has just registered a new patent for a 100-400.
