Canon 40mm 2.8mm STM
Happiest purchase so far.
Focusing is quick and sharp. And most importantly, its has the shortest MFD among all my lenses, allowing me to take nice closeups of kids.
My FF cam is much more portable now.
Sorry. Realise this thread is for L primes only. Haha.
I also worried about third party lens and the support.... Then, I realized if it is MF, no big issue, and after bitten by Zeiss bug..... I think I will hoot a ZE 35mm F2 over the L... for me personally.... http://www.zeissimages.com/standardgallery.php?photoage=7&showall
Just switched from Nikon to Canon. IQ is amazing with 5D3 and 135L.
Thinking of adding a second prime now but cannot decide between 50L and 85L.. Hope to have bros advise here.. Mainly is for shooting portraits/environmental portraits.. TIA..

Why not the 35L or Sigma 35mm instead?
For environmental portraits it would have to be 35mm as even 50mm is too narrow. The Sigma is a good choice.
For portraits, the 85L is Canon's numero uno.
I always thought 135 was the top 1. But either way, both are wonderful lens.

While different people have their individual preferences (one reason for this poll), the "accepted" Trinity primes of Canon are the 35L, 85L and 135L. And of these 3 the 85L is the king, being a 1.2. There may be optically better lenses like the 200L or 300L but they are less commonly used. Anyway the 135 is so good that it can the number 1 for many people if it fits their use. You must fully enjoy if before getting another L else you will be distracted.
Thanks all for sharing..!!
Will definitely consider 35L if I get the 85L.. But if I get the 50L then maybe dun need 35L as FL is quite close..
Wondering if 50L + my current 135L is sufficient or better to get 35L + 85L with my 135L(but need to spend more $$)..? I'm just a hobbyist..
Indeed, 135L is a gem![]()
Have u tried 50L before? Read bout the focus shift issue.. Which is the reason holding me back bout this lens..
