How about 50mm f1.4 USM? Any opinion?
This one should be better.

Great! The official Canon trinity primes are 35L, 85L and 135L (these is also being reflected here in this poll as the three most popular L primes) but there is nothing to stop people from being impressed by other Ls.

that is so correct. i currently use the 1dmk4 and slowly migrating to prime only ownership and it being a 1.3 APS-H and for my shooting needs, my current owned version of the trinity are the 24L, 50L and the 300L.
cheers!
Other than the trinity primes, my favorites would be the 24L, 300 2.8 and 500L. Occasionally I would dream about the Eye of Sauron.

BUT the one lens from Canon that I truly regret letting go is the 200mm f1.8 - truly one of the top 5 in my list ever.
I borrowed a 35mm f1.4L lens from my friend. Tried it however the focusing is so difficult. Got any tips from the expert here on how to improve focusing?
Btw, anyone recommend which L lens to take baby that move fast would be a better choice? Haha just a random question.
Not sure if I can help. My method is very basic, using the center focusing point to focus and then recompose. Not as accurate as selecting the focus point but fast and easy.

For fast baby shots lenses like 50 1.4, 85 1.8, should be good enough. 85L AF slower and 135L you are a little far. Can try 50L.
I realised that the prob is that the IQ is too soft at F1.4. Once i go to F2 onwards will be no prob. But like wasted if dun shoot at 1.4 most of the time.

Hi guys, I'm sure most of you are veterans of primes. I'm stucked with a decision . . . i'm shooting with the new Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens but i feel like getting the 50mm f1.2L is it worth the shot ? I'm shooting more on wedding portraits. Any advice ? Should I just stay shooting with the 35mm or get the 50L ? Many thanks in advance !

I am not a wedding photographer but my suggestion is to stay with your 35 1.4 as it forces you to be more intimate. I feel the 50L is overpriced but you might find a cheap and good used one.
I just bought a 50L recently, after using it over the weekend, i wonder why i never bought this beauty earlier. really like the images coming out from the lens and 6D combo.
