Some might suggest get a FF body and a economical 50mm f1.4. [ bokeh on 50mm shd be creamier than 30mm due to focal length ]..

But going FF means I'd have to pay for pricier 16-35 and 24-70 [ currently on efs 10-22 and 17-55is], I feel that i am v happy with the 2 efs lens that is very well made for the crop sensors.

That being said, one day when 5Dmk2 drops to about 1.5k, i will still buy........hehhehe

Actually if you already have good lenses and not really a pro you don't really need FF. Going FF will just mean spending more money.

However the price of 5D2 is dropping rapidly and I am already seeing people selling at 2k so 1.5k is not that far off.

I took an indoor self portrait of myself in the night under normal fluorescent lighting 2 nights ago.. f1.4

But I'd rather not post here coz the subject doesn't do the lens justice.. [ i.e. I look like sh*t ]
But the bokeh is commendable though.

I am owner of 35l f1.4 also. Have u got any shot in indoor. Without flash high iso?

Any sample like f2 below. Shallow dof?
Any focus issue or soft image?

I dun think the prime L lens are prone to failure of the AF mechanism.

And if your camera is capable of MFA, u need not send the lens back to do any adjustments [ if not out by too much ].

The only thing to consider now is whether to go shops and choose the sharpest grey set or to order from ebay/hk without testing.
actually im really curious. Is there really any sharpest copy or what not? Shouldnt all of the same lens perform the same (if its a working unit?) The sharpness of each unit is different??

"All sharp" lenses is only true for Leica where stringent quality control is applied. Other makers have wider varying tolerances and there are "sharp copies" amongst their lenses, even for L.

oh ok..so usually how many New Boxes will they allow you to check before purchasing? 2? 3? So far I've encounter..once the first box you open is working fine. They wont allow you to open another..So how? If it were you. Go another shop?

If the one u open works fine and well, why do you need to waste time check another box?

What will u answer to those questions if you are the owner of shop? :)

I meant sharpness in the sense of no back or front focusing issues.

This will depend on your relationship with the shop. For small lenses 3 is not unusual but it also depends on how many they have and which lens. Cherry picking is mainly for lenses with known QC issues. Shop does not suffer any losses for letting you pick and will gain goodwill instead.

Precisely. That's why i said Shop owners usually don't allow you to open another if the one you holding is already a working unit (which is usually what happens to me).

But some user here mentioned not all perform the same although they are working perfectly fine.. Thats why im saying.. so how can/should we tell the owner so to let him open another for us?

What you said in the first line is exactly what i felt and though. I dont check another if the one im holding is already a working unit. But i always hear people saying mine is "sharp copy... sharper copy". (referring to same lens). So im really confused. Which brings back to my point.. Shouldnt all perform the same? Or the differences is not visible through naked eye at all!

35L is the most popular lens in this survey so you can't go wrong. Just look at Farbird's pictures below.
IT Show not cheap. If you want cheap just get a second hand lens at BnS here. You can sell it again with little loss if you don't like it.

I went canon booth, but apparently they only sell consumer zooms or those normal/telephoto L zooms
Asked for the price of 35L and got redirected to AP instead
